Aight aight so yesturday was the official PS Biz Brief 06 in Tokyo and alot of info was said about the PS3 and PSP ,biggest news was that there is now an official release date for the PS3 ,sony is going to be doing a worldwide launch this November which means itll be comiing out in Asia,North America and Europe at the same time! 8)
Heres some more info for yall
PS3
-Coming out november
-ALL ps3 games will be on Blu Ray discs to help prevent piracy, of course u can still play PS2 games and movies on the system but the PS3 games will all be on Bluray technology.
The Hardrive will be REQUIRED to play the PS3 heres some fact about the hardrive
-60GB HDD (2.5")
-Upgradable
-Enhance gameplay
-Network/Game application
-Powerful Network platform
-Full internet access
-Home Service
-Linux OS
Sony didnt say whether the hardrive will come with the ps3 or whether you would have to buy it separtely,im thinking itll come with the ps3 gotta wait and find out though

The only thing that wasnt mentioned at the confrence was the Price on the PS3, sony is probably gonna tell us at E3

PSP
-- The PSP userbase is 96% male and Sony views this as a problem. Ideally, the company would like more women to play PSP and Sony looks to widen the system's appeal to various demographics.
--The PSP will get its own version of the EyeToy in September and the peripheral will feature motion-tracking games like EyeToy Play, as well as add functions such as video chat. (Curiously, though, no confirmation on a still photo snap function like on cellphones.) The camera is sliver and it attaches to the USB port.
-- Starting this fall, the PSP will receive some key new features. Video and voice-over-IP features will launch in October in "motion jpg" format, allowing PSP owners to use their PSPs as a virtual phone and even, with that new EyeToy, a portable video phone.
-- The PSP will also include a GPS receiver with an update rate of once every second with a 40-second fix time from a cold start. Minna no Golf (Hot Shots Golf) will be one of the first games supported. Interestingly enough, SCE lists that GPS support is already out there, that the "Library has already released partially" ... what titles could those be?
-- Macromedia Flash will be included with a spring Network update, along with improved RSS support for playback and saving of net-broadcast radio and video.
The biggest PSP announcement was that the PSP is going to be able to play PS1 games! heres more info
Sony's Ken Kutaragi continues to drop PlayStation Portable news during the company's PlayStation Business Briefing 2006 as he's just announced that the PSP will see "E-Distrubution" features added sometime in the future.
Users will be able to boot software directly from their Memory Stick, all official-like this time around (you know what I mean). The first major announcement for use of this will be a series of PSOne games - yes, you will be able to download classic PlayStation titles and play them on your PSP. No word yet as of whether or not you'll be able to transfer games directly via disc or not, or which games we should see first, but more news on this as it comes in.

i agree with Trauma it'll be more on the tracks of $800-950, wont be suprised if the games, memory card and all the other neccecities take one up to over a Grand.

The Ken guy above even quoted as saying that they can't offer the PS3 at a price that would be targeted at households. What kind of sense does that make? They're making a game system that from the go is targeted to the rich and elite? I cannot be down with that, and in my opinion, even the 360 is too expensive. This shit is supposed to be about kids, not milking families for as much as possible or getting teenagers and 20 somethings to spend theirselves into oblivion for a system that is still only marginally more powerful than the previous generation, or systems costing half as much in the current generation. In the end, they all fall to fucking PAC MAN which is one of the simplest games ever designed, still 5 times more fun than anything anybody's putting out now. Power does not equal fun, and anybody living by that strategy eventually is going slap the fuck out of business. Sony is doomed.

wait till it comes out and everyone sooner or later will be copping one, cant deny the ps3 mayne!haha, yo whats its mean that they we need a harddrive to play the ps3 games but it might not come with the console? the fuck does that mean, i could buy a ps3 and not be able to play ps3 games on it? then i wouldnt cop one, but thats some bullshit to me, and one other question........whats the difference between normal tv and high definition tv and whats the difference when playing games?

HD has much better resolution which results in clearer picture.

HDTV's show much more detail than a standard TV. For example, when watching a HDTV you can actually make out small imperfections in peoples skin. So if a person has a pimple you will be able to tell no matter how much make-up they put on.

yea i think the hardrive will come with the system ,but it just hasnt been officially said by sony,which is kinda wierd but yea including a 60gb hardrive to the ps3 along with wireless controller and shit this is all just gonna make the ps3 cost more and more , and ur otha question bout HDTV otha dudes already answered it

Means you'll get the cheapest Blu-ray disc player on the market. Stand alone BRD players are supposed to cost from 1000 dollars upwards. PS3 will probably be around 500 dollars, definitely no more than 600 - more would be a suicide for Sony.
Everyone knows money is not in the hardware, but in license fees they'll be getting from every game sold. And remember that this time the stakes are much higher, cause there's a format war going on now - if Sony sells, let's say, 6 million consoles in 6 months like they plan to, HD-DVD will be out of the market quick. People don't want new movie disc format, cause most of them are still satisfied with DVDs. And HD-DVD camp will have huge problems convincing them it's time to buy a new player. Blu-ray, on the other hand, has PS3. You don't want a blu-ray player? OK. But you want a PS3, right? Got you. ;)
Sony has two VERY important goals - win the console war and win the format war. The outcome of these wars will stand for at least a decade. I'm sure they'll be willing to lose 200-300 dollars on every PS3 sold.
Besides, computer parts are getting cheaper every month. After a year, year and a half, they'll stop losing money on hardware.
Oh yeah, an English-speaking Sony rep has confirmed hdd will come with every console.

Some more news about the PS3 from the GDC06
The previous release date for the PS3 was november 06 ,sony has now let us know that it will be "early november"
sony also said that the PS3 will be playable at E3 8)
Sony also said that God of War 2 will be coming to the PS2 in early 2007 and that Ratchet and Clank is heading to the PS3
good news for the ps2 owners since God of War is a fuckin sick game
