Cisse tipped for Tottenham switch

Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse may move to Tottenham in the summer, according to the player's agent.

The 24-year-old has scored in his last two games but is rumoured to be surplus to requirements at Anfield.

"Tottenham should be in touch again this summer and Djibril is very interested," Ranko Stojic told The Sun.

"Spurs are a club on the way up which can offer him more time on the pitch. The situation will sort itself out at the end of the season."

Cisse cost Liverpool £14m when he was signed from Auxerre two years ago and Stojic expects the Reds to accept a £6m loss.

He said: "I don't think the club will oppose his leaving if they can get £8m as they will need to sell in order to buy this summer.

"He has a very good relationship with the Liverpool fans.

"He gets on well with everyone and doesn't want to put everything in question by asking to leave now.

"We know Tottenham are very interested. They got in touch with us on 31 January at 3pm.

"That was only a few hours before the market closed and we did not want to do business."

Well for £14,000,000 Liverpool certainly thought so as well.  It's up to Liverpool whether they will give him the chance to come good.

Hope he goes. Increases the chances of Keane goin 2 Celtic coz Spurs cant accomodate Cisse, Defoe Mido and Keane and personally i think Jol would sell Keane ahead of the other 2.

CISSE isn't smart, he should have left Liverpool sooner(In December) coz he hasn't played a lot this season, therefore he's gonna watch the World Cup on his TV screen

hell nahh.. if any striker will leave in the summer it'll be defoe.. it has been reported a few times now that Benitez is a big fan of his and would like the chance to pair him with crouch.. I hope to god these Cisse rumors die down, because we dont need an inconsistant striker like him at the club, Tottenham are continually linked with alot of big name strikers at the moment, just for example last week we have reportedly had interest in: Van Niestlerooy, Gudjohnson and Kuyt.. So im not reading into anything heavily yet.

lol nah course i dont insist on him leaving us.. but its public news that he isnt too happy at being a sub as its a world cup year and dont know if we could turn down a £7-9 Million bid from a club.

3 years ago Cissé was one of the most exiting strikers in the world. he was just a spectacul player to watch and he scored from angles that you thought was impossible. and the french league´s not a bad league at all but when he went to Liverpool he became a boring player and he didn´t seem as happy as he did in Auxerre. but the social bit plays a huge part in how well you perform on the pitch and maybe he just don´t enjoy life in Liverpool. and Detox did France actually qualify for the world cup ???

Cisse has all the elements to be a great striker, strong, powerful and quick but he doesnt get his head up when he has possesion and when he shoots he seems to just hit and hope.

I really hope not, hes quick but thats about it, his first touch is often useless, shooting is arratic, and he never seems aware of when his teamates are in space. Definitely not the sort of player I'd like to see at the Lane.

Cisse needs the right mentor to get the best out of him, if he's to become the striker he was tipped to be.

Spurs? Nah.. I can't see it. I'm pretty sure Jol will have his sights get on Dirk Kuyt this summer.

Why the fuck would you sell one of Keane/Defoe to accomodate Cisse? It would be madness.

I like Cisse.

Not watching Premier League ey ?
Cisse got no vision, no eye for the game, no technique, his workrate isn't the best, and he often turns "sour" if things doesn't go his way... which it usually doesn't.
His 2 only forces: pace and strength, but due to his weak first touch, his speed usually isn't worth much.

Quote
Jol: No interest in Cisse

Tottenham manager Martin Jol has unequivocally denied any interest in signing Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse.

The Frenchman's agent claimed this week that Spurs made a bid to sign his client during January's transfer window.

"On January 31, at 3pm, they contacted us," Ranko Stoijic told France Football. "We didn't want it a few hours before the end of the winter transfer window."

However, Jol has stressed that he is not keen on landing the former Auxerre attacker when the window reopens at the end of the season.

"No," he told Sky Sports News, when asked if he was interested in the player.

"Not at all."

However, Jol did intimate that Cisse's name may have cropped up during January's discussions.

"I can be honest about it," he explained. "Everybody knows we were looking to get someone in on loan last January.

"Of course, all the names were there - we have lists. Somebody will have mentioned him. But nothing came of all the other players on the list and I made a decision we would be fine with Mido, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe.

"It has turned out to be fine.

"As for Cisse next season - there is no truth in it."

Cisse has scored in consecutive games for Liverpool after breaking his duck for 2006 in the weekend win at Newcastle United.
