AL West
A's
Angels
Mariners
Rangers
I gotta go with the A's. They have the best combination of Pitching, Bullpen Strenghth, defense, and hitting. The Angels have all of the above except hitting, BUT if their huge prospects come through with the power the Angels can easily take over.
AL West's Best Hitter: Vladimir Guerrero
AL West's Best Starting Pitcher: Rich Harden
AL West's Best Reliever: Huston Street
Rookie to look out for: Felix Hernandez (Mariners)
AL Central
I expect a three-team race in this division. The White Sox are the champs, the Indians are the most balanced, and the Twins keep on bringing the prospects (their health is a big issue for them to succeed though). I'm picking the White Sox, it all depends on their pitching.
White Sox
Indians
Twins
AL Central's Best Hitter: Travis Hafner
AL Central's Best Pitcher: Johan Santana
AL Central's Best Reliever: Joe Nathan
Rookie to look out for: Andy Marte (Indians)
AL East
George's Yankees will prevail, but now not only do they have to watch out for the Red Sox but the Blue Jays too. If Halladay and Burnett can stay healthy, watch out!
AL East's Best Hitter: A-Rod
AL East's Best Pitcher: Roy Halladay
AL East's Best Reliever: Mariano Rivera
Rookie to look out for: Pick a Devil Ray Rookie lol
AL Wild Card
Tough one, I'm going with the Red Sox though. Such a shame though, so many strong teams in the AL compared to the NL. I'll do my NL preview tommorow.
-
Uhhh... I don't know too much about MLB, but I'm trying to get into it. So my only prediction is that the Dodgers are going to win the NL West.
-
I got the A's winning the AL west The Tribe taking the Central and the Yanks taking the East. Man it is hard to choose the wild card I wanna say the Bo Sox but I'll say the White Sox
-
i'm not going to make any predictions but , i'm really pulling for the dodgers this year, they did some great things in the offseason and they should do really well.
-
Yankees in the East
We Dominate year after year after year...
-
Yankees in the East
We Dominate year after year after year...
with the line up you guys have you should be winning it year after year are year....
marlins did what?
red sox did what?
angels did what?
-
The Yankees are a complete, utter joke with the money they spend each year they should win the title every single year but they dont ;D
-
The Dodgers are for sure winning the the West
-
NL West
In order for the Dodgers to come on top, things can't go as wrong as they did last year. Look at how many important pieces were injured or had not so good years because of injuries...and Ill rank them in level of importance...
-Eric Gagne
-JD Drew
-Milton Bradley
-Odalis Perez
-Jayson Werth
-Cesar Izturis
-Brad Penny
-Wilson Alvarez
-Jose Valentin
Shit, no wonder the team lost 91 games. If at least 2 of the 3 main players were healthy all year, The Dodgers would have gone to the playoffs. But that's just how it is sometimes. The Dodgers now have even more injury risks players, hopefully the team doesnt get hit again by the injuries and if they do...the prospects are now a step closer so that's a good thing.
Dodgers should win the division, if healthy.
Dodgers
Padres
D'Backs
Giants
Rockies
NL Central
It looks like the Brewers are heading in the right direction, the Astros are losing a lot to Clemens but they always seem to pull through, the Cubs still cant find health with the pitching, and Pujols carries the Cardinals. Cardinals to take the NL Central
Cardinals
Astors
Cubs
Brewers
Pirates
Reds, still have no pitching
NL East
The Mets have made some excellent win now trades that should give them the division. Those extremely well built Braves always seem to come through though.
Mets
Braves
Phillies
Nationals
Marlins
-
^ whos ur wild card pick?
-
Oh snap my bad lol. The Braves
-
Lmao at the Giants in 4th place, I got them winning the west fairly easily ;D
-
I dont even see Bonds playing 30 games this year
-
I dont even see Bonds playing 30 games this year
Even with Bonds I don't see the Giants winning the West.

AL East
The yankees staff is in shambles. Mussina is done, Age has finally caught up to RJ. I dont care what any of the yankee cock lovers at ESPN say about RJ.... his career is over. There 5th starter is LMAO at best. And you cant bet too much on Ming and Chacon, tho i like Chacon i thought he was a good pick up. With the exception of Mariano the yanks pen is a joke... Farnsworth will bomb in the Bronx. I really like the moves the Blue Jays made tho. If Burnett can stay healthy and everything comes togethers like it should, im picking the Blue Jays for the division
AL Central
This is going to be a fun division to watch. The sox and Indians will battle out for it. Plus the Twins always put out a competive team. But losing Coco Crisp will hurt the indians. Marte will start the season in AAA. So I got the sox to win the division again
AL West
This will be another good division. I really like the A's, but i think the angels are just too much for them. Halo's take the division
WildCard - Red Sox
NL East
Its the Braves division till the Braves lose it. But this will be the best division in baseball
NL Central
The Cards will win this division. But the brewers will be a very fun team to watch and will surprise a lot of people. The poor cubs fans will suffer again b/c Prior and Wood will never be healthy. But Carlos Zambrano will start to get recognized as one of the best pitchers in baseball if he has not already
NLWest
Hands down the worst division in baseball and who really cares who wins this division, well i suppose the fans of the shitty teams in this division. I go with the dodgers.... the padres look good on paper but thats it, Piazza will bomb in petco and call it a career after this season
Wild Card - Phillies
-
The Angels have such a fucking future. Their entire IF plus C position have young promising players.
C- Jeff Mathis
1B- Casey Kotchman, Kendry Morales
2B- Howie Kendrick
SS- Brandon Wood, Erick Aybar
3B- Dallas McPherson
Wood and Kendrick have been playing together since 2003, this year Wood is starting in AA while Kendrick is starting in AAA, but if Wood continues his amazing progress and Kendrick his normal development it would be great to see them be the 2007 Angels Middle Infield players.

The Blue Jays will be good this year. They spent a lot of money in the off season to get Burnett, closer BJ Ryan, third baseman Troy Glaus and catcher Benji Molena.....Look out for the Blue Jays!!!!!!!!! :D

It's a wait & see when it comes to the Jays because Burnett has been nothing more than a .500 pitcher who tends to get injuried. BJ Ryan career stats aren't that much better than the guy who he replaced. So it's a wait & see when it comes to the Blue Jays.

My prediction for this season: Another boring year of baseball
-
You can't compare Miguel Batista to BJ Ryan. There is a huuuuuuuuuge difference.

What's the huge difference? They've both been closers for roughly 2 seasons & at the most 5 career saves separate the 2. I'm not seeing the big difference here.
-
B.J Ryan doesn't rely on his defense to get guys out. In 2004 he had a K/9 of 11.7 and he increased that in 2005 with a 12.5 K/9. Batista barely got a 6.3 k/9 rate. Plus, BJ Ryan keeps the ball inside the park. Batista was an Average Reliever while BJ Ryan is a top reliever who doesnt rely on his defense to get outs. He K's guys and has a low walk rate too. His WHIP is well above average while Batista's WHIP is well below average.

It doesn't matter cause they both get the job done. Whether Batista loads the bases before getting the save it doesn't matter cause he still got the job done. So for the Blue Jays to pay all that money to a closer who stats wise isn't much better than who he repalce; it doesn't show that the Jays spent money wisely.
-
BJ Ryan gets the job done, Batista didn't. HUUUUUUUGE difference. It's like saying Cantu is the same hitter as Utley because they are both 2B that drove in over 100 RBIs, there is a reason Batista isn't even a set up man this year while BJ ryan has been a top notch closer for the past 2 years.

You can't say that though at their career saves afre almost the same. BJ Ryan got the job done as much as Batista did. Ryan just got over paid because he had one good season with Baltimore. Ryan is going to be making more than any closer in baseball except for Mariono. & if he's getting paid because of what he's done in his career; then Batista is defintely going to cash in as he basically has the same numbers. By the way, BJ has only been a closer for one year, year & a half at the most. Defintely not enough time to prove he deserves all that kind of money.
-
One good season? I'm counting three. (2003-2005) How the fuck are you saying Batista is just as good as BJ Ryan when for the past 2 years Batista has basically had a ERA almost 2 runs higher than BJ Ryan? You can't have your fucking closer putting up an ERA over 4 if you want to consistantly close out close games.
-
Obviously you're not taking efficiency into the evaluation of the two players. He's not worth the dollars, but he's still better than Batista and he's better than most closers in the game. K rates, Walk Rates, and WHIP are good indicators of not only their current success but what they are capable of doing in the future. Batista's K Rate has been declining andif he was still the Blue Jays Closer instead of Ryan it would cost the team about 4-6 Wins. The BlueJays need to overpay, especiall in their divison.
