MUSIC INSIDER: Dr. Dre's 'Detox' Delay
Sounds like multi-Grammy-winning superstar rap mogul Dr. Dre's highly-anticipated, long-in-the-works 'Detox' CD is still in delay mode. ''Detox has been started and stopped a few times,' reports Jonathan 'J.R.' Rotem, the much-in-demand mastermind behind some 60 tunes recorded by the likes of Fabolous, Mya, Jojo, Foxxy Brown, Busta Rhymes, Talib Kweli including the latest singles from Rhianna and Lil' Kim in just the last year.
'Dre is an incredible perfectionist,' says Rotem, who's been working with Dre on the project. 'I know he's working on it, but he's just waiting for a sound that's really going to move him, something way, way above anything that's out there. He doesn't need to put out an album for money, or even for respect because he's known as the top guy, so he's going to put it out when he wants. He can move at the speed he wants to because he's earned that place.' Rotem says 'Last I heard they were in Hawaii working on it, but I think Dre put 'Detox' to the side to work with the artists on his label like Busta Rhymes.' Rotem says when Dre signed The Game -- who defected from 50 Cent's G-Unit Records posse -- he became particularly focused on the super hot rapper's upcoming new album.
'The Game is an incredible artist,' he notes. 'The last CD was definitely a legendary album. The way he enunciates his words and the thoughts and analogies he brings, he just has great clarity. To listen to his raps, his tone of voice, he's very entertaining and engaging. Like any good artist, Dre's trying to push him to be his best.'

I'm looking forward to hear Game's new album, but if I had to choose between a Dre album in November or Game's album in July, I'd definitely go with Diggidy Doc...no question.
