Every World Cup there's always a team that surprises a lot of people, they never win the Cup or even go to the Finals but still they sometimes get 3rd Place. Who will that team be for the upcoming World Cup?

for once - they have a chance of doing well.
constant under-achievers tho, same category as spain.

Ukraine? did pretty well in qualifying rounds may'be they will suprise and get out of groups and possibly win another game or something...pull a Senegal

u always have to watch out for the african nations although this yr is has the worst crop of them. one of the best players eto'o aint even gonna be playin in the world cup.
i do think that this yr is englands best chance in a long time.

I was actually thinking along the lines of Mexico-US-Ukraine-Serbia And Montenegro for the surprise team. I still see England and Spain(since all of their players are in the best leagues in the world) as super powers that should make it far as possible and anything short of the Final Four would be a dissapointment for these two teams just like the other big teams. I guess I should have worded my topic differently, and asked what unlikely team can make it to the Semis. The way Mexico plays in the Confederations Cup did impressy many soccer analysts though, and they didn't have their full squad as did the other Nat'l teams in the competition but I got an idea of what to expect from Mexico. I just want them to reach QUarters really lol. Oh yeah, it will be tough for Mexico to make it to the quarters since they will face the survivors from Group C

i put a bet down on trinidad and tobago they got great odds infact i'm probably gonna bet on all the rank outsiders just incase, just remember who'd of thought greece would have won europe.....

yeah, I don't expect them to get to the semi-finals or anything, but I think they have alot of powerful atheletes in their squad.
2 Toure's, Eboue, Zakora, Drogba & Dindane are capable or causing problems.. thats without any of the others who may shine.

True, it's a very strong group, I wouldn't rule out any of the sides for qualification though.
I would - S&M. The other 3 are too strong.

hmm I'm not convinced by Holland tbh, I think it's pretty open for anyone.
Germany are another side who i don't rate, (even if it's their turf), they got torn apart by Italy.

Think that Tunisia will go the furtherest of the African teams this season, probs go out at the quarter final stage
Croatia to be one of the biggest surprise teams also
Spain to be the biggest surprise of them all and actually go all the way and win the thing ;D

the europeans were a little out of their element in the last worldcup and the african teams thrived in the asian conditions
but being in germany this time i think the european teams will dominate...i expect one of the smaller euro tems like poland (theyre in there right??) or croatia to spring a couple of surprises
