NEW YORK -- Ron Artest of the Sacramento Kings was suspended one game without pay for hitting Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs in the head with his forearm.

The suspension was announced Monday by the league. Artest will miss Game 2 of the Western Conference series on Tuesday.

The contact occurred in the third period of the Spurs' 122-88 win Saturday night against the visiting Kings.

Artest was hit in the mouth by Ginobili's elbow on the game's opening possession. The cut inside his upper lip required three stitches.

Correct me if im wrong but the refs didnt even call a foul on it. The NBA is looking for any way to get ron in trouble. Plus it dont help any he elbowed the NBA's golden boy.

The game cannot get called 100% and thats a fact of life. You gotta admit the "star" players 9 times outta ten will get the call whether its a legit foul or not.

Yea, the star players minus Kobe. Kobe, I've been saying all year, doesn't get the respect of the refs most superstars get. Stu Lantz himself has said "I have never EVER seen a superstar get as many non-calls as Kobe"...It's known man, do you even watch Laker games? What happened in Phoenix happened all year with Kobe...PeACe
