MANCHESTER (Reuters) - England striker Wayne Rooney has fractured a bone is his right foot and will be out for six weeks, his club Manchester United said on Saturday.

"Wayne Rooney has a fracture of the base of the fourth metatarsal on his right foot. He will be out for six weeks," said a brief statement on United's website.

Rooney suffered the injury in United's 3-0 Premier League defeat at title-winners Chelsea on Saturday. England's opening World Cup game against Paraguay is on June 10 in Frankfurt.

So what are the chances of him being fully fit for the worldcup?....What about Terry did he recover?.....Before i even read this i knew it would be his metatarsal add him 2 the list of Beckham, Neville and Gerrard that have done the exact same thing.

huge blow for england if sven does decide not to take the risk and picking another player. i think though that he'll take the risk.

if we can get past the group stages, we should be good for the knockout stuff with him

wasn´t Beckham supposed to be out 6 weeks right before the last WC and then ended up playin before he was 100%? and remember that a mistake related to that injury led to England gettin knocked out. if some of y´all don´t remember Beckham jumped like a girl when someone in Brazil tried to tackle him and then we all know how it went after that.... they should let Rooney´s injury heal coz playin a half assed player in the World Cup is not a good idea. a player that´s not as good as him will do a much better job coz there´s a gang of players that´s better then Rooney at 80-85%.
