Yo... I can't listen to Jay-Z's music without feeling sick, it's garbage, he tells the story of going from rags to riches, riches to more riches, then taking those riches and getting more riches, then taking those riches and investing it, then starting a clothing line, then getting more money, then taking that and spending his riches, then the things he can get with his riches, then his homies who are as rich as he is, then how he's the greatest because he's the richest...... it makes me sick.
Fuck Jay-Z, Nas is the King of the East Coast.
Nas has two classic albums. Illmatic and Stillmatic. And he may lack concentration and consistency on the others, but It Was Written is underated by most peeps. That album had some overlooked tracks like, "I Gave You Power" he writes a song from the perspective of a gun, before Pac made "Me And My Girlfriend". And "Affirmative Action", "Take It In Blood" "Live Nigga Rap" are all blazin tracks, and "The Message" and "If I Ruled the World" are classic tracks. Nas is crowned the King. Peace.

wow... infnite neva..seen u post a message like this...
suddenly out of the blue..
newayz .. i totally agree with wat u jus posted..
rags to riches and more riches.. very true
-
Yeah whatever. Nas is making me more sick than Jigga most of the time. If Nas can resist the temptation to rep QB, and how cool his mirrorimage (a.k.a. Cormega) is, then he's very good. He is one of the most talented lyricists out there, but when he tries to be hardcorebadazzsuperboygangsta he can really kiss his game goodbye, because that's not who he is.

From About A Week After "Stillmatic" Dropped, I Have Been Saying That Nas Should Be Crowned The Current King Of The East Coast, Especially Over Jay-Z. Overall, Nas Isn't The King Of The East Coast, I Would Rate Big L, Rakim, KRS One, And Notorious B.I.G. Over Nas, But At The Current Moment In Time It's Easy Nas, No Questions Asked. Nas Put Out "Illmatic", Looking Back Over The Years Of East Coast History, There Has Never Been A Greater Album Then That, Lyrics Wise Certainly. After That He Released Another Classic Album, "It Was Written". It Had Amazing Tracks Like "The Message", "I Gave You Power", And "Affirmative Action" Which I Would Describe As Classic. Then Like You Said Decent Tracks Like "Street Dreams". After This He Had Unfortunatly, A Few Weak Albums, Not Actually Wack Albums, But Just Not As Good (Or On The Same Level) As Illmatic & It Was Written. Now Stillmatic And Thats Easily Classic And The Album Of 2001.
-
Infinite.. do not ignore Jay-Z's debut album... Reasonable Doubt, which is better than anything Nas have recorded.. but I agree Nas would kill Jay today. As I've said before, his lyrical skill have regressed severly from '96.

There's no point in me making any more points because I would only be repeating what you have said anyways. But KVB, I think you've got a few points about Nas & Jigga mixed up with your statement. You say how Reasonable Doubt was better than anything Nas has recorded? LOL, don't make me laugh, Jigga has NEVER recorded anything better than It Was Written never mind Illmatic imo. Reasonable Doubt is dope, but it doesn't touch Illmatic/It Was Written/Stillmatic & that was Jigga's best work so that doesn't say much for what he lays down these days.

Give up the Jay Z VS Nas thing. You like Nas. Thats fine--but how about a Nas post not bringing up Jay Z...oooh how refreshing thatd be.
Oh yah...
The King is coming in 1K...
Keep your eyes pealed

Reasonable Doubt Was A Great Album, Classic Even, And Probably The Only Jay-Z Album I Still Bump, But It's Not On The Same Classic Level As Illmatic, It Never Will Be! I'd Be Suprised If We See Another Album From The East Coast Like Illmatic.
-
Listen to "Dead Presidents I & II", "22 Two's", "D'Evils", "Feelin It", "Brooklyn's Finest" and so on. Listen to Jay's flow and lyrics, the skills he display on Reasonable Doubt. I agree Illmatic is dead tight, but Reasonable Doubt exceeds it.
-
I'd take Jay-Z over Nas any day. Nas is way too full of himself.
Jay's addressed the riches comment already:
Motherfuckers -
say that I'm foolish only talk about jewels (bling bling)
Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?
See I'm influenced by the ghetto you ruined
That same dude you gave nothin, I made somethin doin
Come on, listen to his music. Song Cry. Renegade. Izzo. Where Have You Been. Guilty Until Proven Innocent. Soon You'll Understand. This Can't Be Life. Those are just a few of his songs in his two most recent albums. None about riches.

Yo, you know what makes me sick?, cats who think Jigga and Nas are the only 2 emcees in New York, Jay Z is what he is, an emcee who brags about what he's achieved, he makes no excuses for his failures or shortcomings, Nas is a confused and highly hypocritical chump, who blames his wack albums on 'experimentation', you hear him dissing the Roots for being hypocritical, please, taht also makes me sick, the Roots are so much more eclectic then Nas will ever be, oh wait Stillmatic is classic, when did we lower the bar again?
'Black Trash' and 'I Told You So' were both better then Stillmatic in 2001.

One of many fine Joachim-quotes.

Like I Said - "I Think Overall, Nas Isn't The King Of The East Coast, I Would Rate Big L, Rakim, KRS One, And Notorious B.I.G. Over Nas." In The Future I'm Sure Chino XL Could Also Be Up There.
-
give the muthafuckin crown to nas...he deserves it more than jay...he's hungry and inspired while jay z keeps on movin w/ the same material and issues...songs like "what goes around", "my country", "the flyest" and you're da man" make nas more advanced than jay z could ever be...big up 2 nas

I'll take that into consideration, and props to Logic for his remarks
-
yeah i kno theres tons more mcs in new york, but out of these two, I like Nas better, plus he killed jigga in "ether" IMO
yeah i kno but the real crown belongs to Biggie, or KRS-One
also very tight rappers
-
I dont know why people who consider themselves "real hip hop heads" hate on Jigga. Jay Z still one of the best lyricsts out there. Sure, Source & everyone else overrates him by saying he the best, cause obviously theres alot of MC's out there who can rip his shit, such as Nas.
-
NAS=current king of NY....there should be no debate about that
-
word to infinite, but i wouldnt diss jay z, he is a big man in hip hop no matter wht u say, but nas is a LOT better then him, and can rip jay z bad....
Peace
-
NAS=current king of NY....there should be no debate about that
disagree^
-
even jay's people in Brooklyn are saying nas is king now
-
even jay's people in Brooklyn are saying nas is king now
I"M SURE that every and each one of JAY"z people in BK waz aksed...:) *sarcazm*...and even if they said somethin like this..who made them tha judgez....everyone iz entitled for hiz own opnion.
-
I dont believe in all that "king" shit. Nas is the king ohhh wait Jay-z is the king all that is bullshit they are both good and everyone has their favorite or who they pefer. Right now Nas has a tight ass album but if his next one is weak than we wont be talking about him at all. thats just the way it is.
