Busta Rhymes, Mary J. Blige, Jamie Foxx and Missy Elliott lead the pack of nominees for the sixth annual BET Awards with four nods each. Kanye West, Beyoncé and Chris Brown follow with three nominations. Chaka Khan is the recipient of this year's BET Lifetime Achievement Award and Harry Belafonte will be honored with the BET Humanitarian Award. Damon Wayans will host the ceremony, which airs live June 27 at 8 p.m. on BET. Fans can weigh in with their Viewers' Choice picks — Busta, Chris Brown, T.I., Mariah Carey, Ne-Yo and Keyshia Cole are in the running — at BET.com. ...

MTV is (supposedly) a music channel, so they should cover all forms of music and award shows relating to music.

This is a terrible year for the BET Awards. Music for the past year has been crap. :P

Yeah they're both owned by Viacom.  Which is why they both suck dog dick.

That's true. Although BET tends to be more run by Viacom, since MTV has it's own divsion/network (conglomerate) under it.

I feel like MTV is more willing than BET to play a wider selection of rap videos, except for UnCut, which shows videos of strippers half naked shaking their asses, but uses the word "dancer" instead of stripper in T-Pains "In Love With A Stripper".
