my pick is Albert he's a beast
treu he could do it. whats the RBI record? I think he might have a better shot at that than passing Aaron ( or Barry )

No one is ever going to really tie Ruth.
Ruth; 8399 at bats, and 714 Homeruns. Bonds right now has 9236 at bats and 714 Homeruns. Let's ignore the fact that the current Yankee stadium and many other stadiums are shorter than they were in Ruth's time and all the deep fly balls he hit would have been homeruns. Let's ignore the steroids. Let's just give Ruth 838 more at bats and see how far ahead he'd be of Bonds right now. At 8399 at bats Bonds had about 630 Homeruns, and if Ruth hit at his normal pace he'd have a alot more than 714. With 838 more at bats Babe should have hit about 70 more Homeruns at least, bringing him to 784. For the record Aaron had 12,364 at bats, so Bonds is a better long ball hitter than him but no one tops Ruth. Arod is the only one who has a chance to pass Ruth with equal ABs.

props to barry 8) i think he wouldve done it even without steroids.only difference is his home runs wouldnt be as spectacular( they wouldnt end up in the 2nd or 3rd deck..)

Pichting is alot more advanced and is harder to hit a ball now then it was back then

No it isn't. If anything it's easier now. There are double the teams there were then and double the pitchers which made it harder to get on a team. Imagine today's MLB cut in half. Every team would have like 4 aces to start. The ball and bats were also worse back then and made it harder to hit long balls, and there was no other major sports in the same league as Baseball to take away the country's top athletes. Today they have the NBA and NFL to keep more kids from even playing baseball. The pitchers could throw between 85 and 95 then as they can now, and any new techniques invented since are cancelled out by the spit balls and grease balls of the old days. So the new level of athleticism if today is easily made up for by all the other factors. Nolan Ryan pitched as good in the 90s as he did in the 60s, and Mickey Mantle was there at that time who played with DiMaggio the decade before, who played with Gehrig, who played with Ruth, and no where do any of these guys claim the pitching got better. Ruth is the best player ever, and Mays, Cobb, and Mickey come close.

also shallow dont forget to mention ruth played a good portion of his career in the what was considered the dead ball era.
-
LOL at "props Barry"
this guy is such a dick, and a cheater at that :laugh:
it's hilarious if you live outside San Francisco and like this clown

it's so funny how this guy says this yet he never once saw these guys play

without the juice he would of hit around 600, he wouldnt be anywhere close to ruth, he would probably be behind mays for that fact

I touched on it here;
The ball and bats were also worse back then and made it harder to hit long balls
But I didn't stress it because he was only a full time hitter for a season or two before the new ball was brought in. The main factor is that he was a pitcher (an amazing pitcher with his best season having 23 wins with a 1.75 ERA) for 4 full seasons before he switched to a full time batter. In 1918 he was a part time batter and part time pitcher and he had 13 wins as a pitcher with a 2.22 ERA, and as a batter he had a 300 avg and 11 homeruns with the dead ball. What a fucking player. Let's say with the good ball he could do 25 to 30 HRs a a year as a full time batter, he'd have another homeruns no problem.
To Victor Baron, while I've seen Mantle and Mays play on tapes, I know I can never see Ruth really play, but I have to go by written reports and numbers, and based on that no o ne touches Ruth. I used to think he was just a hype and had his skill hyped because he could sell but you can't hype numbers like his. So unless the numbers are made up I have to agree that he is the best ever.
