Do you think they will use the pick? Or trade the pick?
I'd like to see LaMarcus Aldridge or Adam Morrison in a Raps uniform. I think that would give them a talented, young and pretty dope frontcourt with Bosh, Charlie V., and either Morrison or Alrdige. At the same time, if they could get some good players by way of trade, Im all for it.
For example, do you guys think if they traded the pick and say Mo Peterson they could get a player like Ray Allen, or Paul Pierce? Maybe Marbury or someone else.
They definatley need a banger down low, I dont know how they will go about doing that. Also, what do you think they should do with Mike James? James has said he'd like to go to Houston and hes building a home there already. Personally, I think they should let James go and spend the money on another good player. Although Im not sure whatkind of PG's are on the market right now.
-
Ray Allen turns 31 in July so I wouldn't trade for him. Marbury is nothing but a distraction so I would trade for him either. Too bad there is no LeBron or Yao type players in this years draft. I doubt they will trade there pick for a player. Trading a #1 draft pick is really compliacated. I say take a big man like LaMarcus Aldridge 6-11 or Andrea Bargnani 6-11. Hell they can even trade down and take a center like Patrick O'Bryant or Hilton Armstrong. As for Mike james, just let him go if he wants to go. Go to the free agent market (They may even be luckly to get a guy like Gordon, since they'll be far under the cap).
-
If they got Gordon, that would be sick!

Oops, allow me to clear that up. I ment a guy like Gordon. He's still under contract. :(

BTW, I read in SLAM that Aldridge and Bosh are homies. They played together in Dallas where they both grew up. So that would make it even better to have him play along side his friend, Chris Bosh....And you know Bosh would be a great player for LaMarcus to learn from.

That is definatly the tempting route, but they both play PF. :-\

that doesnt matter... If they have Bosh at 6'10, Aldridge at 6'11, and Charlie V at 6'10, thats a pretty scary frontcourt. All athletic bigmen who can play the perimeter.

Weird rotation, but it could work with some help off the bench (a strong center even if not that talented). Aldridge has a good inside game anyways. That trio would be deadly with time to develop and spend together. If they get a good point guard they can be a poor man's Pistons in a couple years.
-
Well Bosh is goin to be a Laker pretty soon so...
-
exactly! I still think they need a banger inside tho like Pryzbilla (Portland) or a player like Udonis Haslem. And of course, a PG.
-
Well Bosh is goin to be a Laker pretty soon so...
keep dreaming. Im willing to bet money on Bosh staying in Toronto. Its already been said by the GM , and Bosh himself wants to stay in Toronto.
-

You listen to NIK too much. Even if he was leaning that way a season with the trio together he would probably change is mind. The question is, which one do I want? I am more a Laker fan then a Raptors fan, so that would want me to have Bosh go to L.A. But as a Raptor fan I know that if he leaves the Raptors then it will be a living hell for Toronto. And I don't want that even if he goes to the Lakers. Which way should I hope for? :-\ Right now I want him to stay. But I know once he becomes a free agent and he considers what to do, my desires may switch to seeing the Lakers in all its glory. :-\ What to want? :-\ But in the end he'll probably stay in T.O. anyways. :P

Not Nik try Greg Anthony or one of those ESPN columnist.

BTW, If you guys get Garnett, or all the other players you say you're getting.....how are you gona have Bosh on there too?
-
anyways, I dont want another Laker topic. This topic was created to talk about the Raps #1 pick.

LaMarcus Aldridge is my final guess (unless they trade).

I don't think Garnett is coming to L.A. they want too much for him.

didnt bosh already say that hes staying in Toronto?

Listening to NIK too much? Wow, you really pay attention to the news, don't you? Everyone and their momma knows that one of the Lakers plans is to pursue Bosh in '07, Phil Jackson has mentioned it in the media, Bosh has never stated he was staying in Toronto, in fact, at one point he claimed he wasn't sure of his future there...LOL@half Laker half Raptor fan over here... ::)

Who said Garnett is a sure thing? Lakers go under the salary cap in '07/'08 even if they trade for Garnett, so they can sign whoever they want...PeACe

that would be cool if lakers got Bosh, hes one of my fav players, him and kobe on the same team would be amazing

Colangelo wants to add some toughness and some interior presence but feels that none of the top prospects - like Gonzaga forward Adam Morrison, Texas centre LaMarcus Aldridge, LSU forward Tyrus Thomas and Italian forward Andrea Bargnani - are likely to step in and contribute right away.
He likes the club's young core, which includes all-star Chris Bosh, Charlie Villanueva and Joey Graham, and is playing things close to the vest with regards to free agent point guard Mike James.
Bosh, who said he wanted to sign a long-term deal with the Raptors, doesn't want the Raptors to add size for the sake of size with the pick.
``I think we have plenty of talented big guys,'' Bosh told Toronto all-sports radio station the Fan 590. ``I think we need to get a banger.''
You Laker fans are a joke. As soon as Bosh resigns with Toronto you can all kiss my ass. Bunch of over-exagerating shit talkers you are. BTW NIK, you stick to your Lakers and try not to act like you know EVERYTHING about the NBA because Ive seen Bosh myself say that he wants to stay in Toronto on NBA XL, and also through the Toronto Star. Bryan Colangelo also said that the only people who are untouchable right now are Chris Bosh and the coach, Sam Mitchell. Its a done deal man, face it. You all know Bosh is staying in TO.
And like I said before, I was hoping to talk about the #1 pick now I have all these Laker fans talking about their hopes and dreams. F'n bullshit!

at the moment pretty much every franchise player is satisfied with the team he's on I think, except for garnett and maybe j oneal

That "you listen to Nik" thing was a joke, chill. I didn't mean anything buy it.

LMAO...No one said Bosh was coming to the Lakers for sure, guy, you need to slow your roll...LOL! We said it was a possibility, because Bosh has claimed he was unhappy in Toronto this season and Lakers showed a lot of interest in pursuing him. It's not like we're pulling this shit out of our ass...LA is obviously a market where he would flourish and get maximum exposure, money, contracts, fame, etc. Not saying he hasn't changed his mind and wants to stay, but how many stars have claimed they want to stay right before demanding a trade or signing with another team? And who's talking shit? You're just getting all touchy because we're discussing the future of Chris Bosh (A RAPTOR PLAYER, SO ITS ON TOPIC)...LOL@stick to the Lakers...Son, don't tell me what to talk about, I love the game of basketball and can add my input on here whenever I want without needing approval from you. As for the number one pick, I don't know about Adam Morrison, he is kinda' overrated to me...I have a feeling they're gunna take him though, Tyrus Thomas will not be a great contributor right off the bat, and European players are hit-and-miss, so they don't usually go first in the draft...They can easily become one of the better young teams in the NBA with a whole lot of upside...They have a lot of potential...Look at this possibility for a starting line-up:
PG Jose Calderon
SG Morris Peterson
SF Adam Morrison
PF Charlie Villanueva
C Chris Bosh
That's a young ass starting line-up with still a lot of talent. Only Morris Peterson has more than 3 seasons under his belt...I definitely see a potential future for Toronto...PeACe

That lineup looks alright....but Id like to see them trade for some new players. If they dont re-sign Mike James (I doubt hes coming back), Id like to see them spend some money on a good, pass-first point guard. If they cant trade for one. They need to trade some players and try to get a banger down-low like Bosh was saying. Mo Pete is a good solid role player, if they could get another solid posistion player I wouldnt mind seeing him go.

Well Jose Calderon is pretty good, but it depends on how far he can go. If they take LaMarcus Aldridge (which they should) then they will look something like
PG Jose Calderon
SG Morris Peterson
SF Charlie Villanueva
PF LaMarcus Aldridge
C Chris Bosh
They have cap room, so they should look for that pass first PG. SG's and SF's are the easiest players to find in the league so I wouldn't worry about that. That may be the posistions were they look for some veteran help. 2 years and these guys are automatic contenders. The Raps have a good core, so trading may not be absolutly necceasry. Put Graham, Eric Williams (if he stays), and Morris Peterson on the trade block and see what the Raps can get.

I agree with ya there. Those 3 guys should be on the trade block for a couple veterans....Id still like to see Calderon come off the bench, hes kinda shaky at times. But if they get a couple vets and a solid PG, they could have a huge turn-around from last season.

Andrea Bargnani is not ready for the NBA yet. He's a good #10-15 pick, imo. A project like Bynum, but less exciting. Nothing more.
I can't talk about the other ones, cause i don't know them all. But Bargnani i know him pretty well, since he's italian.
He's a 11 ppg guy who can't play inside and who can't defend. For sure he's a great ballhandler, but that's it.
Nice 3pts shooter, yeah. But European teams plays better offensive basketball than the NBA and it's easier to be open for 3pts.
Plus the 3pts line is closer to the basket.

Well I hope they dont draft Bargnani. They need a player who is "NBA ready" not another Darko Milicic or Bynum.
-
Anyway he's an interesting project. But i mean nodoby was expecting him to be that high in the draft here in Italy just a pair of months ago. He's basically a bench player in a good italian team............. i think there are other italian players who're better than him if you ask me. Same age. I hope for you you won't waste a #1 draft pick by selecting him.

Not saying this would be an amazing line-up, but it's a very young one with a lot of upside. If they grow together, they can potentially become dangerous...I like it when teams keep their core and improve the team in the areas needed rather than just practically deface the whole squad only to bring in a new one that sucks just as much the next year...As for Jose Calderon, he's still young and I like his potential, I think they should definitely develop him...Morris Peterson is also surprisingly imrpoving a whole lot...Bosh and V are already established stars (well, not V just yet, but he's on the path)...They'd need to see how Adam Morrison performs at the NBA level, I'm sure he'll be decent at first and imrpove slowly... But the Raptors have a lot of pieces to work with, which is more than I can say for a lot of teams in the league...PeACe
