today, "Cali Iz Active" was the new joint of the day on 106 n Park. Tigger gave a mad shoutout to the westcoast and said t was crazy how everyone from the westcoast was all in it. He also confirmed the album is dropping on June 27th....
Do you guys think the video will get lots of airplay? Also, do you think they will drop another video next month thats more appealing to the mainstream, and just use the "Cali Iz Avtive" video to warm people up to the album?
I really like the new video, but Im still not sure how much airplay its going to get. If you want to vote for the video go to bet.com

Yeah they are going to have to drop more videos. I think if this video can get alot of airplay it will help out alot with sales. Same with Cube. All those tracks he got with Lil Jon he should drop. I think go to church has a video for it. But yeah Cali Iz Active sounds like it is going to be a monster album so the more singles the better. You have to really hustle and get your music out there when your indie and DPG is doing that.
-
Cool to hear that they premiered the video, although I doubt that it'll get lots of play. It's not exactly a "mainstream-appealing" song, which is the only thing that BET-watchers are interested in I assume.
-
I highly doubt it gets play. This song is WAY too regional. Of course there was a song like "New York" by Ja, Jada and Fat Joe that got major burn, but they ALL three were very established in the mainstream at that time and the song was still more accessible due to the beat by a Cool n Dre (who are from Miami).
This "Cali Iz Active" joint was a poor choice for a major single. They could've released it in Cali and had a different track for a single. Unfortunately, the "G-Funk" sound isn't going to catch on past the California border.

Yeah, I mean there are still a good number of people outside of CA who like this style of music....mainly in the Midwest and a few in the south. But overall, the song isn't gonna catch heat like that, and the hook doesn't stand out enough. It was great for a L.A. only single. Sittin on 23's is a lot more mainstream ready, but it sounds EXACTLY like "Diamonds on my neck".

And im pretty sure that Cali iz Active will be the only single Off that Album
-
If DPG was still relevant in today's world, they could've done an MTV or BET special. But, in the grand scheme of things, they haven't been hot since 1995. This album is just 11 years too late.

I'm very worried that this is true. They'd be hard pressed to go gold, even with a second single. Cali iz Active (the single) just won't appeal to the mainstream.

it should get plenty of rotation on MTV2. Real Soon was on like at least 2x per hour when it was on MTV2. it wont make regular mtv but theres barely even music video programming on that anymore besides TRL, i dunno about BET, probably not either, on RapCity i guess. The video is fucking dope with everyone in it, but its just too west coast'd out, and its not that high budget of a video. who knows though. & they definitely do have more singles coming..

thats good to know 8)
-
I don't even care about this shit "catching on", I'm pretty sure these guys know it's nothing major for the national scene
I'm just happy we got a video like this, it's gonna get some airplay, and that we got an upcoming album that will please people
as fans we can't worry about who's gonna eat it up and who's gonna ignore it, just enjoy it while it's goin on
-
Its only right that everybody support this video. Lets get this on 106 @ Park....ASAP
-
Since when did everyone on this board start to care about mainstream rap? I bet if Cali Iz Active explodes and becomes a big hit everyone will turn their backs to the Dogg Pound and call them sell outs.
-
this would be perfect as a "street single" cause its a good song and low budget (but sick as fuck) video...........they fucked up the 213 album by dropping a too westcoast type of single too. instead of droppping something like absolutely
-
Yeah Head Over to 106 & Park Site N Vote.. Here's a link for the Lazy PPL

i love this song but its not a good single if you want the wescoast to progress cuz this shit ain't getting played east of palm springs and as far north as fresno..they dont play this song in the bay cuz they dont support L.A. shit even tho the song is about repping cali.
-
this tracks aight but it wont blow up, may get a bit of exposure with snoop on it but wont do anything major, can someone hook up the video?
-
I dunno...
I voted for it on BET.com as all of you should, but I will say one things...
I've played this song for a lot of chicks that aren't really into Hip Hop as their main choice of music and they were really feeling it, like I'll be skimming through CDs all the time and girls will be like, "ooh go back I love that song!"
So, who knows it may have more appeal than we realize...
-
I'll be shocked if it cracks the top 10 on 106 and park
