Paris is well respected on this forum, and this quote was in the hip-hop guitars thread but it went overlooked.
-
I agree with it.
-
I agree
-
most beats (at least those by mainstream producers) sound bland for that exact reason, great quote
-
100% true. What's sad is the demand for this watered down hip-hop is higher than ever.
-
Yeah, it's a good quote, Paris is a broadly intelligent artist.
-
i've been saying that for years on this forum , hell and even got banned for saying it, so of cizorse i agree.
we need another Prince or something to get people excited about playing musical instruments again

-

-
whaha for an instant I thought you meant Paris Hilton ;D ;D
I was like WTF she said something like that?!? 8)
but I totally agree

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...
Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.
Paris
That is true, but there's no point really fighting it. Workstations are only getting better and more popular. I think the new Yamaha MO6 has something like 1700 arpeggiator presets. So that's 1700 chances a real musician isn't getting.
Like Paris said, it's the path of least resistance. You could spend time and money looking for a musician, hiring him, and trying to convey your ideas to him, hoping he gets it, or just do it yourself in less time. And the new technology is making it easier and easier all the time.
There's no right way to create art, there's no better way to create art, only different ways.

Who's Paris, a producer? (Seriously, I don't know)
