Title: Raekwon on Aftermath...............
Post by: dameons on May 27, 2006, 09:18:23 PM
to Raekwons people we can officially confirm that Chef Raekwon has inked a deal with Dr. Dres Aftermath Entertainment. While details are still sketchy, we can confirm that the papers were signed last week.

It was already known that Dr. Dre and Raekwon had worked together on the highly anticipated "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" project, an initiative of Busta Rhymes who is also an Executive Producer of the record with RZA.

"Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II" will be a co-production between Aftermath and Wu-Tang. Whether this is the Wu Music Group or Wu-Tang Productions is not known yet.

RZA has yet to confirm the rest of the details.

This is truly history in the making...

It's cool news... But I got a creepy feeling Dre is gonna get too much artists on his label (GAGE, Bishop, Game, Eve?, Raekwon, Dion, Stat Quo) while he can't drop so much quality albums.. So I guess some people are gonna get dropped after some time..Or will never release an album :-\

Why are you guys getting your pants wet? No disrespect to Raekwon, but it's not like he's the greatest rapper ever and he won't release a 100% Dr. Dre produced album. In fact, if he ever releases an album on Aftermath he will have 18 different producers on the album (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/Themes/dubcc/images/post/thumbdown.gif)

The Cuban Linx Part 2 album is apparantly finished already, so hopefully this will just be a case of Aftermath promoting and releasing the album, rather than spending their normal two years working on it before eventually scrapping it.

And to Mauzip, this album apparantly has 1 Dre production, 1 from GZA's son, and the rest is RZA, so I don't see where this "18 different producers" bull is coming from. Plus, I would make a fair bet that Raekwon is a much better rapper than any of the tripe you listen to.

No, but Aftermath takes it to an extreme.

@ Rastaman Vibration: I can't see Aftermath dropping this (upcoming) Raekwon album in the same format as it is right now.

Word.  Hopefully this signing won't affect OB4CL2.   I want that album the way it's been sounding, with RZA handling 90% of the production.  I don't want Interscope to fuck with this album.  If he is signed, I wouldn't say that it would be my ideal situation for Raekwon, but who knows.  Everybody's raving about Big Bang (i'm waiting till it drops) - and I wasn't even sure that Busta would really ever drop an album on the Math.  So I think there's potential there, but I'd still rather have RZA be the backbone of production on Rae's albums.
