Avoiding?  If I was facing the host in the round of sixteen I would be happy to eliminate them so early...  ;D

.. and well I think either England or Sweden would defeat Germany.. depends on the momentum the Germans can build up through preliminary rounds though...

Sweden have got good record vs. us but -

1. England
2. Sweden

and it would be stupid to play that final group game to try and avoid Germany, Poland would cause us more problems.

I'll give you 4 reasons:

1. Zlatan
2. Larsson
3. Ljungberg
4. Team chemistry

I respect them. They've eliminated Italy in the last European Championship, and they can really be the surprise of the competition imo.

sven's history is with italian football.. and what they do over there is defend like hell once they're 1-0 up..

4-4-1-1 is what messed it up...

and the players were saying the heat was killing em..

trinidad is an evening game..

trinidad & t vs sweden = 0-0 at halftime... not a pushover!  looks like t&t may trip someone up...

Dunno what Sven was doing taking Owen off, if he was going to do it he would have been better to put some with pace on (i.e Lennon), so at least they could get somewhat close to Crouch. We looked awful after he made that sub.

Thankfully though Sweden confirmed as I thought. They lack enough creativity in midfield to break teams down, and therefore at least we will be able to win the group relatively easily as I think they will suffer similar problems against Paraguay.

I dont think Hargreaves shud b in the squad anyway, hes dun nothin 4 England. But I think taking 5 strikers 2 a world cup wud b 2 many. He shud hav took sum1 with a little more experience rather than Walcott imo. I think Walcott has talent, but hes not ready yet.

t&t werent "that good" at anything but defending. they never put together any decent attack when it wasnt a counter attack.. and they only had 30% of possession.. england were just let time to bang the door down. HAD t&t played higher up the pitch and not been playing the "draw them out and counter" game.. it'd be a different story.

Playing against a team who get all the men behind the ball is always difficult.

Luckily beckham is playing really well. u look at all englands best chances they came from crosses from beckham. Crouch goal, owens header, Crouchs volley.

yup.. i said this talking to amate earlier..

[19:14] <Don-Seer> they had to attack
[19:14] <Don-Seer> coz t&t is all defense
[19:14] <Don-Seer> they suck you out up the pitch, then counter
[19:14] <Don-Seer> when you're weak
[19:14] <Don-Seer> coz they cant attack on their own

he got me quite a bit of points in the first game for SOG. hes not a bad scorer either. gerrard saved my ass though and i went up to third in my league. im debating whether or not to transfer a player for didier drogba. mans a beast.

Not necessarily in my opinion. I'd rather than Gerrard at his fully capacity and have a holding midfielder alongside him than have Lampard and Gerrard together but not both playing to their personal strengths.

Zlatan has a decent goal scoring record for Sweden though

18 goals in 40 games almost 1 every 2

His club record is

1999-2001 Malmö (SWE). 40 matches, 16 goals
2001-2004 Ajax (NED). 74 matches, 35 goals
Since 2004 Juventus (ITA). 60 matches, 22 goals

yeah it was an awesome goal. i've always liked joe cole.. especially now he doesnt showboat as much as he used to when he was first put in the england side a few years ago..

good on sven bringing gerrard on too.. we may well have lost without him. rooney's frustration was obvious, but it was the right decision. hoping the papers see it that way today.

that last sweden goal with the throwin/funny bounce was awful.. maybe sol shoulda closed it down earlier, maybe ashley cole shoulda been back post, maybe goalie shoulda got it.. it looks crazy.. i knew as soon as sol campbell came on that sweden would score again though.. :(
defensively england were only awful against set pieces, everything else got shut down well.

beckham wasnt in the game much but did get that amazing pass through to rooney and another few things.

sven is saying rio has a slight groin tweak but will be fit for ecuador.

still cant beat Sweden :/ but we top the group and thats all that matters. Ecuador should be a game we come through with relative ease. MOM- Joe Cole- one of the goals of the tournament.

Michael Owen is having a scan on his knee today, but im not expecting to see him play any further part. Walcott/Crouch gotta do the bidness now. & was Rio taken off tactically or because of injury- those that could hear commentary? Sol Campbell does my head in, that 2nd swedish goal was pathetic. So was our defending as a whole tho- from the minute that corner came in for Allback;s equaliser.

I bet walcott wont get a run out this worldcup, unless injury dictates...rest of the games are important and sven hasnt got the balls...unless we're in the backs against the walls position where if we dont go all out attack then we go out i cant see him partaking...

Rio taken off tactically or because of injury-

as i said.. rio was taken off as a precautionary measure since he felt a groin twinge and reported it at halftime, he then signalled to be subbed partly into the half to be safe..

i think the only way walcott will get a run out is if we're 3 up and comfortable... silly sven..

yeah, blatantly shouldnt of sent Defoe home. hopefully McClaren;s decisions in the future will be logical

i kept saying it....one of these days some1 is going to expose that lousy england defense, and sweden did it yesterday....they dont know what to do in dead ball situations...i guess thats why they got campbell on...none of the other defenders could get head to ball

and what was rooney so pissed off about when he got subbed??
