Mexico keeper Oswaldo Sanchez has flown home from the World Cup following the death of his father.

However, the Mexican Football Federation has said that he will return to Germany in time for his country's opener against Iran on Sunday.

"That is what he has decided," revealed Mexican Federation chairman Alberto de la Torre.

Felipe Sanchez, 55, had been hours away from travelling to Europe to watch his son play when he had a heart attack.

Damn, poor guy.
