This article is from hitsdailydouble.com They are pretty accurate in figuring out how much a artist is going to sell:
At the midway point of the weekly competition, our sales swami sees the following scenario for next Tuesday’s album chart: With 210k-225k in their sights, neo-glam rockers AFI are likely to wrest the crown from two-week champs the Dixie Chicks, who are on course for 175k-185k. The next increment will comprise a pair of hip-hop debuts in Lench Mob/Virgin/The Firm's Ice Cube (140k-150k) and Bad Boy South/Atlantic's Yung Joc (130k-140k), followed by consistent sellers from WB's Red Hot Chili Peppers (100k-110k) and Disney's High School Musical (90k-100k). Cruising to a 65k-70k debut will be the Disney soundtrack to Pixar’s Cars, opening today on the heels of positive reviews. From there it’s a bunch of familiar names, as Lyric Street's Rascal Flatts (65k-70k) and IDJ's Rihanna (55k-60k) presently look good for #8 and #9, while UTV's Now 21, Volcano/Zomba's Tool and the debuting Koch rapper DJ Khaled fight it out for the #10 slot, at 45k-50k apiece. (6/9p)

shit thats alot

Hope that shows the company that artists can still make a good album and sell records.

Yeah, if Cube sold 150K in his first week, that's awesome...since it's an independent release, you know he's gonna make serious ends on those numbers.

Yup, I agree. Even though Cube has said in interviews that he's not really doing the Rap thing for money anymore, I think he deserves as many sales as he can get. If LAUGH NOW, CRY LATER sells enough, maybe it will convince Cube that he still has fans out there who want to hear him keep putting it down, and then maybe, in turn, there won't be anymore of these five-to-six year gaps between CDs! But that's all speculation, of course--we can't really know what's going to pan out for Cube in terms of future movie offers and whatnot. But yeah, if he is at 140-150,000 after only one week, shit, like E-40 says, "that's ghetto gold," at least (especially when you consider that Cube put LNCL out independently).
PEACE!

cube still killin it on the mic after all these years, gotta respect dat

Yeah, that might get other west coast vets back in the spotlight

I never knew it was independant.

I never knew it was independant.
same here I thought it was on Virgin or something
-
Virgin mustve picked up the album for international sales, because of all the music stores in my city, only virgin superstores had cubes album as a major release. No other places had it at all.
-
^^I picked my copy at best buy so it wasnt the only major spot to buy
-
Thats gud numbers! Cubes doin well over here in UK as well. A guy I no works in HMV n they only got 20 copies for the launch on monday and it sold 15 within the first 3 days so they had 2 order another 30 copies! I think its sold bout 30 copies at the mo, which mite not sound 2 much but if u think that if he sells about 10-15 copies at most record stores around the country, it all adds up!

Cube was smart with the way he marketed the album. He signed a distribution deal with Vrigin and he signed with a marketing/A&R company to help him promote it. As long as he continues to drop good singles, he has built a strong foundation to sell his album.
