Title: England has been dissapointing? Nope
Post by: Javier on June 16, 2006, 08:46:39 PM
England has faced two teams that were set to defend from the very 1st minute of each game.  It's just tough to really judge England the first two games.

^^ i disagree

if you're coming to the world cup thinking of winning it, you should be able to break down defences like paraguay and t&t...on paper they do have the talent to do that

what are they gonna do when they come up against some1 like italy in the knockout stages?

the real test will come when england do score and sven decides to sit back against quality opposition...that defence is gonna crumble!!

Besides Brazil England has the best players of the world in its team. How can you say England hasn't been disappointing?

How do we have the best players other than Brazil. I would say Argentina have better players overall, and Italy and Spain are pretty much even with us. Unfortunately despite being one of best teams on paper, our manager is incapable of fitting them all into a formation, and therefore although we do have some of best players, it doesn't look like it because there is no balance to our team.

i wouldnt say england has the best players....because the EPL is the most watched and publicized leage, its players are better known, that doesnt make them better.

argentina and italy both have better players...theyre better balanced teams

englands defence is a huge farce...im just counting the days till terry gets exposed for the defender that he is....not convincing to me at all

T&T were SHIT.. you guys have to understand that you CANNOT succeed esily against a team taht puts all 11 men behind the ball.. they never came out, they never attacked etc..

their tactic was to force the game to a draw and _try_ to attack on the counter.. and the only reason they could counter was because their super defensive tactics force teams to over stretch

So basically you're saying that if Argentina had the same tactic England would've gotten their ass whooped? I think you're right ;)

Individually, England has great players. That's what I meant.

i agree, if a team is well organised and dont make any attempt to go forward it is real hard to create lots of chances.

T & T did hav 11 players behind the ball, which did make it a bit difficult, but we're thru now and u cant expect England 2 go all out against teams like Paraguay and T&T, cos wen they get thru they got 2 face better teams and u dont want ur best players gettin fucked up.

We did enuff 2 get thru the group stages and now wen we play in the nxt rnd hopefully they will go all out and step their game up and look 2 win this shit!!!!

yup.. and another thing is.. sven made the right substitutions to change the game in our favour.. 1) rooney to lift spirits and 2) lennon to bring width

cant wait till tues

I agree with Mauzip, individually England is a top notch team, they should dominate inferior teams rather than wriggling around and barely beating them

But no team other than Argentina has dominated so far, so it's unfair to only call England out, they are disappointing still

Post by: Don Seer on June 17, 2006, 02:12:44 PM

you dont get it.  you cant dominate a team thats not trying to win!

putting 11 players in front of the other team is a tactic for when you're 2 goals up (or 1 up if you're italian..) not for playing a game from the outset.

wait for england to play a "proper" game then see.. sweden should be very different although we're a few men down (neville and ashley cole)

however.. "England hasn't beaten Sweden since 1968. It's starting to irritate. The run goes back 11 matches and includes a 1-1 draw in the group stage at the 2002 World Cup."  and we have a swedish coach?.. eeek!!

btw what of this? "FRANZ BECKENBAUER last night admitted that Germany are dreading the prospect of meeting England in the last 16 of the World Cup. "

lmao..

mmm could a german scalp be on the horizon.. still remembering beat ya'll 5-1 :)

Argentina has only dominated Serbia and Montenegro who's having internal problems, they had trouble with Ivory Coast.

Lmao@english people never forgetting a totally unimportant win, guess we're really that important, even the lousiest clear win gets remembered until hell freezens over. Fuck a qualification game. Last time I checked in the actual tournament Germany made it to the finals.. how far did England go  ???

You won't beat noone 5-1 in this tournament.

The sign of a great team is one that wins even when they don't play well.

2 games, 2 wins, 0 goals conceded....and they haven't even got out of 1st gear yet.

To be honest i think the Germans or Ecuador could cause England serious problems, iv got them down for a first round exit no matter who they play....and watch Larsson or Zlatan show how bad Terry and Rio REALLY are on Wednesday.

eh? they cant be out of the first round.. no matter what happens. lol..  either 1st in the group if they win, 2nd if they draw (and someone else wins) or 2nd if they lose

I hope not :P

If England wins from Sweden and T&T wins from Paraguay, T&T has a chance of making it to the next round 8)

We can find weak spots in every team though.  England played way better than the previous 2 games.  I can see England going all the way to the Semis and see what happens from there.

Shocking goal they conceded late.  Terrible terrible defending.
