Title: Do They Have BBQ's in Europe?
Post by: Suga Foot on June 18, 2006, 09:04:34 PM
I was havin this discussion with some people earlier.  Do any of you guys in Europe ever have BBQ's in your back yard, or the beach/park?  I know a lot of cities in Europe are really densly populated so people don't have big yards or anything.  So is that a part of your culture there?

Yes, it's quite common in the summer time, but probably not as common as in U.S., maybe it's because the weather is worse in many parts of Europe than in U.S..

Of course we have BBQ's in Europe! And some cities are indeed densely populated, but that's the case in the U.S. too, right? And just like in the US, the suburbs are situated outside the busy centre of the city, and yup...that's where people BBQ in their backyard. And besides...you don't actually need to live in a suburb to BBQ. A small garden should be sufficient as well.

And the weather in the summer is not that bad actually here in Western Europe. It's been pretty hot over her for the past 3 weeks. Me & my family had a BBQ just yesterday by the way 8)

What I always wanted to know...do people in the US have BBQ's frequently in public parcs? And if yes, do you need to ask permission to do that? I've only seen it happening a couple of times here in Belgium, because of some big festivity that was going on. But I don't think I've ever seen a regular family having a BBQ in a public parc though.

I dont get the deal with barbecues...Why on earth would you take ages to warm a tiny bit of meat when you can do it much faster and without the smell?

No and don't mention it being for the sake of doing something together, you can eat a decent meal together too and just take your time to finish it.

here in australia we have a heap of bbq's in public areas... at beaches, on river banks, in parks, out in the bush... so here in oz we BBQ alot in public... it's the shit ! plus it's the only way to drink in public legally !!

do they have planes?  ::)

Not anymore, they were all shot down during WW2...   :loco:

Regarding bbq in europe:

Isnīt there a difference in a bbq and ordinary grilling?

Isnīt a bbq supposed to be more of a steaming type thing with a closed lid like this?

If so then most people here in Austira donīt do that...  here we just use ordinary grillers like this...

.. but always with an open lid...

anyway... of course people do that... I canīt speak for the rest of europe but people love it... sure, itīs not as a big thing like in the US with all those big ass bbq grills... but nonetheless people here enjoy a sunny afternoon with some beers and nice food..

Bbqīing in public is illegal here... although who should really enforce it?  Itīs not like police is patroling through parks.. lol Still most people donīt do it.. Only people around the place where I live are the turks... I hate them for it.. cause everytime I pass by a park I smell that they are bbqing and it makes me hungry..

I only did a bbq once this year cause the weather wasnīt all that here... :(

Uk doesn't have Kool Aid...How can ya'll have BBQ's??? Without kool aid :-X

The United States donīt have any real beer.. How can you have a BBQ without beer?   ;D

Say what? :o. BBQing in public illegal?? Do they got a guest limit too? Hell..

Title: Re: Do They Have BBQ's in Europe?
Post by: daWappla on June 19, 2006, 12:15:24 PM
Guest limit?  Hu?  I didnīt get that...

Well, illegal is the wrong word.  Itīs not like that there is a law against bbqing in public but itīs just not allowed... There are zones in every park where you can do a bbq. Like a prebuilt grill where all you have to do is bring your charcoal and your food and your good...

Bbqing in other places than that is just not allowed because people are lazy bitches and tend to leave all their shit there... Itīs an environmental pollution thing I guess... Donīt know really.. I really have no desire to grill in a park... Iīd rather stay at a friendīs place with a fridge full of cold beer... BBQīs are the occasions where I get so super drunk itīs not funny... just because you start to drink at noon or afternoon, spend all day in the sun... one beer after the other.. other drinks throughout.. lol ... I love it!

US Bud is piss... The Real Budweiser aka Budvar from Czech republic is the shit.

When Iīve been to the US I drank at least 20 different beers... Some are quite good... but most of it is piss compared to european beer.. and the beer you can get in supermarkets isnīt even worth mentioning... they are just colored water...

and that grill is pimp:

the miller guenine draft taste a bit like corona but without the skunk smell. But miller is made with better ingrediants, better water and all that, but in canada corona is brewed by molson i think so it's the same. I can'T get drunk with european beers, i usualy take them with food, cuz drank alone i can'T stand the metalic taste most of them have. but with food it's excellent.
