Seriously, basketball is probably the second biggest sport in the world behind soccer (football). It is huge in European countries like Germany, France, Italty, and all of eastern Europe. But how come England, Ireland, and the rest of Britain don't have any teams that play internationally? Doesn't anyone there play basketball or follow the NBA?
Just something I have always wondered....

Naah...It's most likely because most of them aren't physically set to be basketball players...Unless they could all be like a bunch of Steve Nash's, but Nash's talent for his physical set is hard to come across, so English people tend to stick more to "on-the-floor" sports, it's in their blood...PeACe

or it's the same reason that most Americans could give a fuck less about soccer

He's talking about why it's not as popular in general and why they don't have big basketball leagues...I'm sure there are Brits who play basketball, but there are Americans who play rugby too...It's just uncommon.
-
WE do play basketball! And to be honest most peeps just find it more boring then ulot find cricket.Crickets amazin by the way ;)lol
-
there are more skateboarders than baskeetballers in the UK i think..
i'm from a fairly decent sized town and we do have a dedicated basketball store here.. so it cant be THAT bad over here..
-
We do have a national league and cup competitions which do get coverage on Sky Sports, its just that football, rugby and cricket are more popular in general so get a lot more press.

Ask yourself why a sport like cricket is more popular than basketball...Obviously, Brits are more fit to play it...PeACe

No they don't. Is there even a national team? Has there ever been a British person to play in the NBA?
I was just wondering why Britiain isn't as big on basketball as the rest of Europe.
-
i played basketball over there so i know for a fact they do play it, it didn't seem like it was THAT popular though, i was like fucking 11/12 and i was schoolin a 18 or 19 year old

Off the top of my head:
Steve Bucknall, played for Lakers in the 80s or early 90s
Ndudi Ebi, don't know if he's still playing in the NBA
Ben Gordon

I'd actually agree with that. I was just saying the other day about America having a lot of "super niggas" who have dominated the squads in american football and basketball, the UK don't have as many.
Many people may disagree with this and I know it's not technically 100% true, but I believe you really do have to be tall to play basketball.
America has plenty of people who fill the criteria, the UK doesn't. Plus it's not really something in our natural culture like America.

the reason why british dont play bball is because they didn't invent it. Yall know how they are? so distinguish from the rest of the continent..
british do british shit.

Something in the tea, probably.
