Please Mexico, just finally show up.
-
Poor Mexico.
-
Mexico need to be at their best or it's bye-bye
-
Mexico will win this game or else >:(
-
Have any of you guys been paying attention to Mexico's LB Carlos Salcido? I think he's Mexico's next successful export to European football.
-
mexico gonna get that ass tapped.... bad
-
Argentina no doubt. Its gonna be only 1:0 though
-
I think Angentina will win this, but I guess anything can happen in sudden death matches
-
If history means anything.
These teams have played 14 times together.
Arg won 5, Mex won 2, with 7 Draws as well.
The last two times they played was last year, both ended in draws.
Arg gets the ball around so well. Riquelme is great at that.
For mexico to win, they need an offense. The last two games they've had the advantages, but haven't been able to capitalize. If they get the oppurtunities, they have to get goals. My hopes are for them to draw out, and penalty shoot out...
I see it close, if Mexico shows up, it's a draw... if they don't, Arg wins by 2 goals.

Well, It's On. Argentina and Mexico are Central/South American Rivals. These two teams know each other. They should be familiar with each other styles right from the start.
Good Note for Mexico.
Jared Borgetti will play against Argentina. I hope he's truly 100%. On monday, six days ago, they did an MRI and it showed his muscle wasn't healed... so he didn't play portugal... doctor said the extra rest allowed his leg to heal. I'm not a doctor, but if six days ago his leg wasn't suited to play, how can two days magically prepare it. Oh well, Mexico needs scorers.
When Borgetti was asked about Argentina, he replied.
"Argentina? Oh, it's a beautiful country."
he then went on to say that "Argentina is a rival of ours... a rival we can (and have) beat"
So, let the game be on... I don't think it's going to be a one sided game, and I hope not... I love good games. Anyway
OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE!
About 1 hour and a half til the whistle blows.
Go Mexico!

I'm afraid it won't help. Even Argentina's most awful pass in the wrong direction looks wonderful. I really feel sorry for Mexico. :(
-
argentina 3-1.
messi scores 8)
-
Mexico just scored a goal :bandit: :sombrero:
-
lmao@that faggot scoring into his own goal like an elite striker
-
Crespo's foot got in the way of him clearing the ball better. So much for Argentina just walking over Mexico
-
that was a clear red card for heinze. nothing to argue about it.
-
It really sucks that Pardo got injured, he was playing extremely well. Torrado is a fine replacement in that position but Torrado doesn't have that passing ability Pardo has. Oh yeah, Pardo is also the best Free Kick shooter on the team.
-

-
Definetly should've been a red card.
Argentina may have won it at the end, but a very questionable offsides was called. We saw the replay, referees have one chance.
Anyway, 30 minutes more....
and exactly.... so much for Argentina walking over Mexico...
-
Osorio has saved Mexico from some dangerous Carlitos plays
-
That shouldve been a goal for Argentina.
-
2-1 Argentina.... after 1st OT
Mexico has to take this 2nd OT and do all they can do...
The rodriguez goal was nothing far from incredible....
-
Well Argentina did win, but Mexico was definetly not an easy hurdle.
Now germany will beat Argentina... they're just playing too well.
-
wow.. the shit mexico pulled off in the first 6 mins :o that game was the best in this WC so far fo sho

I'm going to vent here...
VENT WARNING
one more time
I'm going to vent here...
VENT WARNING
Being Mexican, I always cheer for Mexico first. USA second. Sure I live here, and should support my country, but WHY should I support my country, when my country doesn't support it's own team... anyway, I have a lot of friends from south american countries. Peru, Urugauy, Chile and a few from Nicaragua. Anyway... for all of us, for one month, World Cup is life, nothing else is important... but futbol. Now for these last two weeks, all I've been taking shit from my amigos, saying Mexico has no chance, they will be creamed by Argentina, because South American futbol is just on another level. I throw my own jabs back... ok, so why does Peru suck, Chile suck etc etc... I get the response
"they dont suck, their better than Mexico, the only reason they dont make the world cup is because to qualify, they have to play Brazil and Argentina"
so Mexico plays no good teams then? I get...
"No, they have to play Canada, USA, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago, Honduras etc etc"
so... today when this game was on... I was cheering Mexico, but I wanted a good game either way... and I got that... even on these boards... I read...
Argentina 8 - Mexico 0
Poor Mexico
mexico gonna get that ass tapped.... bad
I really feel sorry for Mexico.
Well, I'm no stranger to Argentina futbol, but all I can say, it wasn't easy for Argentina... I feel they were outplayed for the most part... one incredible shot, one player, one decision, shoot aim and well, it was perfect... he got it... what can you say... Rodriguez upset Mexico, not Argentina.
I may take this seriously now, but I've been hearing it too much... Mexico Has No Chance! They barely made it out of group... All I want to say is... yes they do... it's futbol... everyone has a chance and let it be known, Mexican futbol is not terrible because they play Canada to qualify...The reason peru doesn't qualify is because they have to play brazil... the reason Canada doesn't qualify is because they have to play Mexico...
Anyway, it's a game, its a sport, I called my family in Mexico before the game, wished them well... because, well today... the whole country had their eyes on this game... it's that big, Americans will never understand.

What did you guys think of Guardado #18 ? After he got injured, Mexico kinda lost their control of the ball on the left side of the field.
This is Mexico's fourth straight tie vs. Argentina in Regulation time, 2 ties and 2 loses (one from Penalty Kicks and of course today's game). I'm proud of Mexico's performance, they went toe to toe with Argentina. Another amazing thing was Carlos Salcido and Ricardo Osorio playing defense on Tevez and Messi, especially when you think about the fact that Tevez and Messi were fresh off the bench and Salcido and Osorio have been moving up and down for 120 minutes. Good luck to Argentina vs Germany.
Mexico's Coach never showed it's true stellar lineup, he was criticized hard for it but it turned out well in today's game espcially with the amount of wingers they had playing together in this game. Guardado-Morales on the Left and Mendez-Castro on the Right. This is the format they used in Confederations and during the Group Stage they weren't using that, they were playing very conservative.
-
He showed some spark, but I really thought Zinha played a great game today... he had some good moments.
-
I thinK Guardado and Zinha would have made a very good combination but unfortunately he got injured. Pineda came in though and that sick ass move on Argentina's RB, I forgot his name but it starts with an S and was the guy that fucking tackled Zinha and didnt even get a Yellow

Man Mexico is a talentuous team with a couple of interesting young players. I was expecting them to win the first group, like i predicted, and i was expecting them to win against Argentina. Yeah, crazy. But i really thought it was a good team, and they proved me right. Props. Now it won't be easy for Argentina to face the most impressing team in the tournament so far, Germany. We will see.

germany is going to beat argentina

Big ups to Mexico. I really didn't expect them to play this good and it's not Argentina that didn't play good. Mexico really played well :)

Oh i wasn't referring to the WC team specifically, but i was thinking about the youth formation who did well in the last intercontinental competition they played in. I remember i enjoyed watching a pair of good players, man. I was impressed. I don't remember the names, help me. One was a n.10 with long hair, something like a Ronaldinho clone, and another was a pure midfielder. I'll make a research to find their names.
Anyway i think your coach did a great job. Tactically your team was interesting, with a lot of soluctions: you could have played long ball to Borgetti, you had players to make quick verticalizations, you had good wings to attack and cross inside, quick players, good midfielders who actually attacked the opponent's area. But you lacked you know tecnically speaking a player like Rodriguez. A goal like that ain't in your DNA, tecnically Argentina was way better.
You guys did a good job anyway. You should be quite happy about this competition.
-
It was a great game, but over the whole game I think Argentina just about deserved it, although the Mexicans were obviously hampered by having to make earlier subs due to injuries.
That Zinha looked like a great player though, is he still in the Mexican leagues, or has he already been snapped up by a European side? Also, was that Mexican youngster than Arsenal bought (can't remember his name) in the squad?

I think you are referring to Dos Santos and probably Esparza.
I completely agree with you about the coach. I've never seen a Mexican team go toe to toe with the elite teams in the world like this team has. Sure there have been teams in the past that have gotten good results but under this coach they have done it consistently. That's the best way to go out of a World Cup Tournament, where you feel good about your team's performance and realizing that it took an amazing goal to knock your team out.

That's what i'm saying. Mexico is out, but the future looks promising.
