Title: Just Listened to The Big Bang
Post by: Spicemuthafuc*in1 on June 22, 2006, 10:30:16 PM
Pretty good album Im impressed and I bet it will only get better.  I really liked Dre's production on the album but I liked his beats alot more in the documentary but I still was impressed alot with his work on this album.  The guests were good and all fit in well and Busta really ripped alot of the tracks up.

Absolute bangers :
-Legend of the Fall Off's (Busta rips this track up)
-Cocaino
-Goldmine
-Don't Get Carried Away (Prob my fav track, Busta is nice and I thought Nas killed it)
-Been Through The Storm (Im in love with this one my other fav track, Stevie is such a legend)
-Get You Some

Solid Tracks:
-How We Do It Over Here
-In The Ghetto
-New York Shit
-You Can't Hold a Torch
-I Love My Bitch
-Theyre Out To Get Me
-I'l Do It All

Bad Tracks:
-Get Down (annoying imo)
-Touch It (just dont like songs like this)

Overall I'm happy, good album!

Touch It is a banger. Been Through The Storm is heat! Man that shit bangs. Really digging I Love My Bitch and In The Ghetto. Cocaino is dope too. But my favorite joint is How We Do It Over Here. That's gonna smash the clubs when they start playing it.

NOT feeling Get You Some as much as other people.

dre beats on documentary were better, he seems more in his zone working with westcoast cats, or maybe it was because after so long he worked with one, it sounded so sick, i think that his beats are more innovative on this, but a jam like start from scratch was better than all or most of his beats on the big bang.........he should storch to do more keys for dre.....without storch tryna jack dres new sound.....but either way, that dont mean dres work on big bnag was not dope, it was real good, just i prefer the beats on documentary also

by the way, how we do it over here is crazy man, anyone who goes to clubs and shit knows this is a club record........its bangin, and even then it goes with the rest of the record of having that dark sound to it..........this album should have been named the midnight hour imo

Nah Start From Scartch, Higher and How We Do were dope. Westside Story and tha Mary J Blige were ehh.

Big Bang Dre beats>>> Doc Dre beats no doubt for me.

And the album,

like all the tracks expect for Ill Do It All. This album is a grower.

yeah big bang is heat, lyrically its above documentary no doubt, but overall as a album its not better, i aint saying its worse......but overall as a album, documentary is more sticky....gets catchy alot quicker cuz its more varied, however i beleive

start from scratch
get you some
how we do
how we do it over here/westside story
dont get carried away/legends of the fall off

i think the production on big bang from dre is more promising in the sense its more creative and can get better, but i think the beats on documentary are better........

lyrically, big bang was refreshing for a mainstream album

but i don't think people can really say big bang is a better album than the doc, their different.....both are a 4 mic or more album

peace

Yeah, This album is a grower becuz 'Been Through The Storm' is one of my new favorites now. Although I still ain't feeling 'You Can't Hold a Torch' yet. 'Touch It' was an absolute banger to me, still is. :P

I like it, but it still has to grow more on me, like you guys all said. It takes time to accept all of this new material, unlike the Documentary where it only took 1 or 2 listens...

If Busta would have had 70+ minutes on his CD, I'd say it would be better than the Documentary. Busta's CD was way too short to be considered a #1 album.

Why does everybody expect such long albums?! More music = potentially more filler.

yeah but if its quality like busta couldve done, its better... cuz its not working on the album that takes time, its getting it published and distributed... so say if u could put out 80 mins every 2 years, u'd never be able to do 40 mins in 1 year... its more material being put out if u do it all at once

The shorter the album, the better. Less quantity makes for more quality. Records don't need to be 80 minutes...most of the classics clocked in at under an hour.
