(June 27, 2006) -- The Toronto Raptors announced Tuesday they have exercised their contract options on forwards Charlie Villanueva and Joey Graham. The pair is now signed with the team through the 2008-09 season. In accordance with the league’s collective bargaining agreement, the Raptors had until October 31 to exercise their options on Villanueva and Graham. Per team policy, financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

The first of two Raptors’ first-round draft picks in 2006 (seventh overall), Villanueva averaged 13.0 points and 6.4 rebounds in 81 games, including 36 starts. He set Raptors rookie records for points (48, March 26 at Milwaukee) and rebounds (18, April 2 versus New Orleans/Oklahoma City), and finished the season second on the team in rebounds and double-doubles (12). He was selected to play in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge at All-Star Weekend in Houston, where he scored a rookie team high-tying 18 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Villanueva was named to the T-Mobile NBA All-Rookie First Team at the conclusion of the regular season.

Graham was selected by Toronto in the first-round (16 th overall) of the 2006 draft, and averaged 6.7 points and 3.1 rebounds in 80 games, including 24 as a starter. He scored a career-best 19 points April 2 versus New Orleans/Oklahoma City. Graham finished the season fifth among rookies in field goal percentage at .478 (198-414) and sixth in free throw percentage at .812 (108-133).

I dont want to see JO in Toronto, and Im pretty sure that aint gona happen anyway....When you have the #1 pick, there bound to be many rumors flying around.  But yea, Im happy they signed up Charlie V, hes the man!  Why do we need JO when we have Bosh, Charlie and either Bargnani or Aldrige?

Jermaine O'Neal is a center, while Bosh is most comfortable at the 4...The trade isn't less likely to happen just because they exercised their option...Charlie V. is now signed for longer for a cheap price (since the option has been exercised by the team that drafted him). His trade value just went up...PeACe

JO can play center cause hes versatile and does play center at times but only cause our injury's, JO is a PF thats where he is comfortable.

He might be more comfortable playing at the 4, it's obviously easier to dominate smaller players, but he's a center, he is listed as a center-forward, not a forward-center...I think a front-court of Chris Bosh and Jermaine O'Neal would be amazing...PeACe

If the Pacers are healthy which they probably wont be then he will be at the 4 all year long.  Yes I agree a front court of CB AND JO would be great!

With the direction the NBA is heading, he's much better suited to play center...Kwame Brown is listed as a forward-center, and he will likely be our starting center next year...O'Neal has been at the 5 spot for most of his career...PeACe

It's not up for debate like Kirilenko vs. Odom...LOL. He's a center first.

Well he plays PF more and when people rate JO they compare him to other 4's otherwise he'd be known as the best center in the league cause hes better now than shaq and better than yao and ben wallace.

Alright, I know he likes being a power forward, but he's still naturally a center. His game fits the perfect example of a center, especially a center nowadays...Garnett and Nowitzki are more like small forwards, I honestly think it's better to compare Jermaine O'Neal with Yao Ming than with Nowitzki or Garnett...PeACe
