lol

I think the referees wanted more fame and recognition, so they decided that WC2006 would be THEIR Championship.

nah FIFA given directives to be harsh on bad/career critical tackles etc... fair play n all that..

ironically the only england player out through injury during a game is owen.. who put himself out till next year.. just by turning with the ball on his own..

Yeah, funny how FIFA decides to implement new directives in front of every WC.
One year it was tackles from behind = red, another year it was all deliberate handballs = red, etc.

The problem is not FIFA giving directives, but the refs applying them wrong. Look at the red card of Materazzi in Italy-Australia. He made a foul against his teammate Zambrotta, lol. Even Blatter and Beckembauer admitted it. Some of those reds are yellows, simple as that. And some of the yellows i've seen were reds (like Deco vs Holland, the first one). It's all about the refs, not about the rule. If the rule is the same everywhere there's no problem.

refs cant be perfect though can they.. imagine how hard it is down on the pitch.. its easy when watching slowed down replays on tv. but when you're in the thick of it its another matter..

i wish they'd have an official actually sat with a tv feed the ref can communicate with when he's not sure.. it'd stop a lot of the BS

Yep, I actually thought he did pretty good but it seems that FIFA wants them to ignore the rulebook sometimes to add to the spectacle, which is some wack shit.
