Post Skills: 6
Intangables: 9
Overall: 91/100

NBA Comparison: Luke Ridnour

Strengths: True point guard with excellent vision and passing ability ... Has a great feel for the game, with the ability to elevate the level of play of his teammates ... Amazing creativity and anticipation ... Sees plays before they develop, finds teammates the instant they become open, the mark of a great passer ... Ball handling ability is superb ... Very good shooter with range ... Uses change of speeds well ... Good quickness, gets into the lane and by defenders well ... Has a bag of tricks offensively with a nasty crossover and good ability to pull up for shots when open ... Plays solid team defense, reads passing lanes for steals ...

Weaknesses: Athleticism and strength could be an issue for him in the NBA ... Lacks great body strength, not a physical specimen type but has some leaping ability and quickness ... A big or real physical guard can push him around ... Turnover prone, can get caught up trying to be too fancy ... Makes a lot of spectacular passes, but in trying to do so makes a lot of turnovers ... Small hands seem to make him more prone to turnovers ... Lacks explosiveness and finishing ability around the basket ... Not especially long or tall, cant see over defenses and must make ball fakes to get passes over or around bigger defenders ...

porbably not at the start of the season cuz its gonna take time to learn the triangle. but he might later on in the season.

will smush parker or sasha vujacic be traded?

I don't think either of them will be traded. It'll probably be Parker/Banks/Farmer.

Probably not. Smush and Marcus are already more devlopted then he is. Plus Phil Jackson doesn't play rookies and the triangle offence is complicated; it'll take him a while to learn. On top of that there is already 2 guys on the team that play the same positions.

Lakers Take UCLA's Jordan Farmar
The Lakers selected UCLA guard Jordan Farmar with the No. 26 overall pick in Wednesday's NBA Draft. The 6-foot-2 Farmar averaged 13.5 ppg and led the Pac-10 in assists with 5.1 as a sophomore. The Lakers also acquired guard Maurice Evans from the Pistons for Cheick Samb, their second-round pick. Evans averaged 5 ppg and 2 rpg for Detroit. LA traded a future second-round pick to Dallas for George Washington guard J.R. Pinnock. Pinnock averaged 14.5 ppg and was named Atlantic 10 Sixth Man of the Year.

Damn, great day for me. I'm a fan of Italian team BENETTON TREVISO, and Toronto just selected their star Andrea Bargnani with the #1 pick and Lakers acquired former Benetton player Maurice Evans. Plus i'm an UCLA fan, and we got Farmar too. Good day, good day..

PG) S.Parker/J.Farmar/A.McKie
SG) K.Bryant/S.Vujacic/JR Pinnock
SF) L.Odom/M.Evans/L.Walton
PF) K.Brown/B.Cook/R.Turiaff
C) C.Mihm/A.Bynum

We basically replaced FA George with M.Evans, and we added another PG and another SG in the mix.
It's looking good, so far.

Well we traded him for our #51 draft pick, man. I think we did a pretty good job. Like i said, consider Devean George is a FA, so we basically took a replacement for him for free. Now if we compare Evans to George, George is better, imo. But as a bench player I don't mind Evans. He's very phisical, very quick, a great athlete, and in the right system he can add power and let's say 6-8 points from the bench. Not bad, man. Let's not hate on this trade without a reason. Did you want LeBron James to backup Odom? lol.

Farmar is half black and half Israeli. He's Jewish...He looks nothing like Luke Walton in person. The dude's a winner, I know this from my days in Taft and I saw him bring the glory days back to UCLA with my own eyes. Never did I think 2 years back that I was playing with a future Laker...I was so excited when the Lakers selected him, and the Maurice Evans acquisation just topped it off...I mean, a 51st pick for a solid bench player with great experience who played for championship caliber teams. How can anyone hate on that? Jordan is very gifted, Laker fans will love this draft in the near future...PeACe

Maurice Evans was a major steal...We're most likely still gunna bring another scorer behind Kobe Bryant (hopefully Kareem Rush). Like Antonio said, Maurice Evans can replace Devean George coming off the bench, and we got him for practically nothing...

First: nobody can replace Kobe. Second: nobody can replace Kobe. Third: we basically traded an unknown guy selected with the #51 pick for Evans, the backup guy of the Pistons, a pretty good role player. It's a great deal from our point of view, and you can't argue about that. The end. Obviously we ain't a perfect team yet. But that's not the end of our summer trades: it's just the beginning. And it's a great start.

i didnt say replace kobe. but im sure kobe would agree that it'd be nice if the lakers didn't blow a 10 point lead everytime he goes to the bench. and maurice evans isn't gonna be out there knockin down shots. he averages like 4 points - whoopty doo!

He actually will be knocking down shots...He averaged 5 points in 14 minutes on 45.2% FG and 37.1% 3FG...That's pretty good, stop being pessimistic.

LOL man he ain't even Kobe's backup. He'll most probably take the place of Devean George. And we got him for free. What's the point of your hate?
We will hopefully sign other guards like Rush and Cassell to make the shoots you're talking about. And Evans averaged 6 ppg in the Pistons.

It's crazy how Farmer was born and raised in L.A., went to University in L.A. and is going to play pro ball in L.A.

Jackson warmed up to shorter guards with Fisher, and when he tried to stay away, he saw his taller guards get burned on the D end. Jackson is using shorter guards now with some speed to keep up with the other fast guards. Not to say Farmer is a speed demon, but his got great defense, and will add a lot to the team. Plus I'm sure he'll hold his own, like Fisher, against faster players, Fisher learned to out think them, and Farmer is aggressive.

Kobe calls to congratulate Farmar

By JOHN NADEL, AP Sports Writer
June 29, 2006

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) -- When Jordan Farmar's cell phone rang Thursday morning, he wasn't surprised to discover it was another call of congratulations.

But it wasn't just any caller -- it was Kobe Bryant.
"That was the best way to start my career, to get a phone call from the best player in the NBA," Farmar said at a news conference less than 24 hours after the Los Angeles Lakers took him in the first round of the NBA draft with the 26th overall selection.

"It wasn't long at all -- about 5 minutes," Farmar said of his conversation with Bryant. "It was very meaningful to me. He's the best player in the NBA and we're on the same team."
...

"Man, I'm very excited to be here," he said. "It's been the longest month of my life, traveling around the country to pursue my lifelong dream. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome. I'm blessed to be here."
....

Farmar's family attended the news conference at the Lakers' training facility.

"He called to give me directions, and he told us about his call from Kobe," said Farmar's mother, Mindy Kolani. "We're all just numb -- we're all so excited."

..."We're not done," Kupchak said, making it clear there were more changes in store.
