I'm starting to look into getting a new tv. I've still got the 27" and 19" from college, and its more than time to step it up. I'm not looking for the absolute best technology out, I'm more looking for a great value. I'll throw out some arbitrary figures here (keep in mind, i'm mostly uninformed so feel free clue me in on anything): I'm thinking maybe somewhere in the 42" range, and I'd love to spend around $1500. I'd want an LCD or DLP. Is this realistic? I'm sure I can find a tv that meets these parameters, but I don't want a piece of shit either. Again, these are rough numbers and I'm flexible on any of those aspects. I'd really appreciate anybody's expertise. Peace

Oh G Spot Mods, please oh please send this topic back to the Sports and Entertainment board.
-
Along with plenty other topics.

What a fucking douche. Not only do you move a question about a television from Sports & ENTERTAINMENT but you spam the thread. And you're a mod :tosser:
-
Entertainment is what is shown on the TV not the fucking TV.
-
Whatever you say man. Now get the fuck outta my thread unless you're gonna drop some knowledge on TV's.
-
lol oooh tough guy. WIth all the comparison shopping, reviews, and other shit you can find on the internet you gotta ask a fucking message board for help on TV's, what a fucking retard.

No, you're off topic. I asked for some knowledge from anybody that had expertise on televisions. I've read numerous reviews and have shopped around and have heard contrasting reports. I'm just looking for some more insight from other people. So again,
Whatever you say man. Now get the fuck outta my thread unless you're gonna drop some knowledge on TV's.

I got a 52" Mitsubishi DLP about a year ago. I haven't had a problem with it yet. I bought it a year ago from best buy for about 2500. I'm pretty sure the prices have dropped since then

Did you get a warranty / protection plan? I don't usually do those as a general rule, but you always hear about the screens / pixels burning out. Also, did you buy a special type of power strip for it?

Make sure you do that. I bought a 20" Magnavox LCD 3 months ago and some pixels burned. Thankfully I bought a protection plan for it. It's around $50-100, but it's worth it just to have that added safety.

Where did you buy your tv from?

Best Buy

whatever you buy, if you get an LCD panel, get an extended manufacturers warranty on it... if it breaks, they wont fix it, they will tell you to buy a new one. $$$.
-
you never thought about a plasma screen?
they last 10 - 15 years without burning out or losing pixels
-
^ how would you know that ? it's still recent technology isnt it ?

I went to Best Buy today. I saw some pretty dope tv's. The one that really caught my eye was a 42" Samsung DLP for $1350. There was a 50" Samsung DLP but it was $1900, so I'm def leaning towards the 42". The warranty was $400. There was also some dope Sony and Phillips, so I'm gonna try and read up on those.
