Title: Most slept on albums of past couple of years
Post by: Tha_Blaq_Sinattra on July 10, 2006, 01:15:18 PM
I'm gonna say "In the midnite hour" by Warren G. You could tell he put his all into that. He wanted this to be his "what's going on" He even remade Marvins album cover. He even made Mike Jones sound decent.

Agreed. I was surprised at how many people shitted on ITMH. Production was solid all the way through, lyrically it was better than his last, plus his flow was better as well.

wow, I completely disagree with everyone.

In the Midnight Hour?  are you kidding me?  I could barely stand one listen.

Trauma a classic?  Please, by far its quik's worst album, and doesn't have much replay value, but I agree, its a pretty good album for today's standards.

The only album I might agree with thats been mentioned is Dirty Birdy's.

Trauma is not a classic. Its quite good for todays standards but nowhere near a classic. Has small replay value.

Cam'ron? All of his shit is wack.  Most definitely the worst rapper in the game. I haven't heard one decent song out of Dipset... Anyways I'll second...

Doggystyle All-Star (E-White, Kokane, Soopafly, Snoop, Latoya, etc)

Dope album, that was really slept on.

I agree with Trauma and definitely Hi Life Hustle, that album is banging pretty much the whole way through.  But, In The Midnight Hour, IMO deserved little noise.  It is by far Warren's worst album, and even thought there are a few nice cuts, the entire effort comes out to be just meidocre at best.  Its a damn shame too cuz Warren's first 4 albums were all great, and all but take a look over your shoulder are classics in their own right.
Other slept on releases:
Mack 10 - Hustlas Handbook
Devin The Dude - To Tha Xtreme
Any XL Middleton shit

DJ Quik - Trauma, although with a bit of promo and a video it would have blown up, but I suppose that's the indie route for you.

213 - The Hard Way, the expectation of classic G-Funk overshadowed the album. It took me until winter '05 to really appreciate it, when I realised it ain't '94 no more.
