Who's to say intimidation didnt play a part in any allegiance shown to the row.
As we all saw recently in Straight Outta Compton Suge was a straight menace, brutal, reckless and had no regard for peoples safety or wellbeing.
Kurupt survived that kinda environment as have all ex Death Row affiliates.
Its a pity we become so selfish in our fandom not recognizing or realizing the potential realities people in the industry have to deal with.
A constant criticism i hear about gangsta rappers is "they aint real gangstaz"
Why the FUCK would we want them to be?
Why the FUCK would want to subject them to inhumane lifestyles and mentalities just so we can sit back and get off vicariously in our living rooms and bedrooms bumpin they shit.
Personally, i see gangsta rap as a medium to inform on these practices. To give a voice to the countless youth and adults who live in environments where gangsta is a lifestyle not a fucking pop culture.
I cant support the genre anymore knowing that there are people so invested in some of the practices relayed through the medium of rap that they embody them rather than see it as an incentive to rise above the practice and use their personal experience with the culture to motivate them to also express themselves in a constructive way.
Sure im entertained by the lyrical javlin but as a whole i choose not to sentence some kid to a life of guns and crime and gangs through power of purchase.
Ive learnt alot tho.
The sense of extended family you get in gang culture that you may not experience with blood kin.
The bravado and courage displayed in certain exploits.
The staunchness.
The sense of community.
My only hope, and I've recieved verification that this is the intention, but I hope to see more people prosper through the art of rap and also be a voice for their community.

Kurupt comin back to tha row was like Scottie pippens return to the Bulls

haha, that's true we NEVER knew that. Fortunately SOC gave u the truth... #irony ;)
Kurupt survived that kinda environment as have all ex Death Row affiliates.
Kurupt never had problem with Suge. He first left the label because he filed for bankruptcy in 97. That's why it was easy for him to come back after Suge was released from jail and become, then, Tha Row VP.

Thanks for the info...
Will file it away with all other relevant data....
My responses to rap are purely emotional....
I am alien to stats, credits, politics and the like...
Ive never been interested in the industry as such, just the art...
I can see now how affiliations can be driven through talent but i stand firm in my belief that i wish not to subject or promote subjecting anyone to the negative aspects....
I wanna wrap all rappers up in cotton wool and play with em with kid gloves on...
I dont wanna condone unnecessary aggressiveness or permit abusive mentality....
I know they grown men and dont wanna judge...
Im quite aware of affinity for behaviour and culture....
But im not a schadenfreude....
I do not delight in miztreatment or tyranny....
I see everybody potential to be adressed and treated respectfully and humanely....
My greatest love about rap is the kinship....
Watching my favorite artists show love and respect to each other.....
Nuff Said.
