Everything comes back..Well jsut probably be dead when it does
-
I think it'll come back. Who knows when tho. It's the sterotypical LA sound. So they either need to change the stereotype, or just ride with it.
-
Unfortunately.
Thank God!

Why thank god? Whats wrong with a lil g Funk?

G-Funk died 10 years ago. People obsessing over it is pure insanity. Time to get out the past and into the real world... That sounds dead and the West needs to leave it that way to progress.

Im not obsessing but i dont think its as bad as you are trying to make it sound...youre telling me you never listen to g funk records anymore?
-
As time goes on... the list of "G-Funk" songs I listen to gets smaller and smaller. I'll listen to the Classic's... but that's about it.

Name a few....

G-Funk didn't die, artists just stopped doing it because they decided to sound like everyone else
-
Yall realize that g funk is basically just loops of p funk and rick james records right? People need to create NEW shit, not rehash the same old 4 and 8 bar loops for the next 40 years.

Regulate
S.C.C. Thing

Everyone's trying to eat. Even West Coast fans stopped buying records, so what's left to do? Cater to West Coast fans circa 1995 and stay broke? Or Cater to a couple of Execs, get signed, do a couple of Club records, get money, then be able to make the music you want? I'll roll with the latter.
-
^^ lol @ making the music they want
seems all I hear is artists bitching about shit

Look at E-40. Look at Snoop. Look at Xzibit. Look at B-Real. etc. These dudes make the music they want to make. They went through it, catering for CEO's at one point in time in their career and it payed off for them. They can make an album the way they want.
Pay attention.
-
I don't believe that they have full control
-
I don't believe that they have full control
E-40 been making Southern tracks on his records before it was an Industry standard. Cypress Hill jumped on the Rock Rap thing well before it was a trend. These dudes control a good majority if not all of their records.
-
okay, if you say so
I'm still sayin I don't believe for a second they have full control

yup, if you dont believe that, then you need to listen to a song that came out in 1990 called Carlos Rossi.
-
I didn't say they didn't have a majority of say
you'd be an idiot to believe they have 100% control tho, get it through ur dumbass heads
-
^through the duration on E-40's stint with Jive he did have full control. Now he's with Lil Jon and obviously it has Jon's fingerprints on it, but nothing on Ghetto Report Card seems out of the ordinary for 40 to be doing.

G-Funk didn't die, it just evolved into something new.

That's right.

G Funk was mainstream 10 years ago, because it was the flavor of the time, at the time everybody was vibing to G funk Beats doing the Brandy & Ray J's Dance. it was all about raising the hands in the air ...if u pay attention all the beats sounded the same at that time, but thats because it was the flavor of that time. just like Lil Jon is running things today. and as I think about it if lil Jon is having success Today is probably because he improved his style and got with the program, cuz if Im not mistaking Lil Jon used to make Bass music before going all crunk, so thats probably what people On the westcoast needs to do, they need to Get with the program and create something new..and as for the fans, they are probably stuck on g-funk music because they were too young to bump it when it was popular back in the days,

Of course G-Funk played itself out. 10 years ago, it was impossible to turn on hip-hop/R&B radio and NOT hear G-Funk records being done. And lots of artists out of the West were jacking that style to sell records...look at Bone Thugs (Midwest), for example.
You guys complain all the time about how the South and its "crunk" sound is what's being imitated the most across the country right now? Well, if you'd been listening to the music 10 years ago (and most of you are obviously so young that you weren't), you would know that G-Funk was held in the same regards back then as crunk is now: It was the radio-friendly, "sellout" pop-thug sound of the early- to mid-90s.
And yeah, West Coast fans are most def living in the past. Always complaining that their favorite artists aren't making shit that sounds like the mid-90s; that's the whole reason the West fell off (and now sucks) in the first place.

You fuckin kidding me? "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" and "1st Of Tha Month" are bonafide G-Funk singles - same whiny synths and heavy Parliament-style bass grooves as anything from the West at that time.
Not to mention that Bone's main producer, DJ U-Neek, was from South Central, and Bone was signed to Ruthless, a Compton label that of course jumped on the G-Funk bandwagon like everyone else in the mid-90s.

You added "to me, anyways" later. Good for you if it's not played out, but the rest of the world that stopped giving a fuck about the West disagrees with you.
Remember, NEVER contradict the GOD.

oh no, the rest of the fruits on this board disagree with me

No, no, no, son, the majority of the fruits on this board are like you - G-Funk fans who haven't yet learned that the mid-90s are over. But the REST OF THE WORLD (which DubCC ain't) got sick of G-Funk 10 years ago and let it sink back into the underground where it belongs.

It's my birthday and ill listen to to GFUNK if i want too.... :nahnah2:
