In my thesis on hip-hop culture, there will be a chapter in which I discuss rap songs with a positive message toward the youth. There's so much bullshit surrounding hip-hop these days (its image to start with), so therefore I'd like to show that some rappers care about the youth.
For instance, Fat Joe's "Gangsta":
Now she's raising hell in her cell, no one hears her hollering
You might suffer the same fate if you repeat the following
Sell drugs, use drugs, get caught up in the mix
End up locked up or dead in a casket, that's it
^^^^Perhaps not the best example of 'a positive message', but if you've heard the entire song, then you know that Fat Joe is sending out a warning to the youth, especially in that last line.
Feel free to add songs that contain a similar positive message.
Thanks in advance!

IF YOU LISTEN TO IT. .ITS ABOUT HOW HE AND HIS FRIEND GOT JUMPED INTO A GANG AND THE STUFF THEY DID AND AT THE END HIS FRIEND ENDS UP GETTING SHOT. .HE'S TELLING THAT STORY TO HIS FRIENDS LITTLE BROTHER. .SO THAT HE THINKS IT OVER. .THAT SOME OF IT MIGHT BE FUN BUT HE'LL PROBABLY END UP DEAD. .I'LL TRY TO POST IT UP LATER!

Street Struck by Big L
Yo where I'm from it ain't cookies and cream
There's a lot of peer pressure growin up as a young teen
You never know when you gonna get wet
Cause mad clowns be catchin wreck with a tec just to get a rep
Instead of cool friends, they'd rather hang with male thugs
Instead of goin to school, they'd rather sell drugs
It's best to go the right route and not the wrong one
Because it's gonna catch up witchu in the long run
Brothers be on the corners, actin stupid, gettin lifted
They life is twisted, and most of them are quite gifted
In other words, they got TALENT; but they'd rather sell cracks
and bust gats and run the streets actin violent
To them it's all about hittin skinz and makin some easy green
Cause that's all they show you on the TV screen
All they care about is a buck or bustin a sweet nut
They don't give a (WHAT?) cause they street struck
Great verse

But it's crazy hard kid, in other words, it's spooky
The streets be callin me, like the crack be callin Pookie
It ain't a dumb joke, listen to this young folk
Cause where I'm from -- you can choke from the gunsmoke
Stay off the corners; that might be your best plan
Before you catch a bullet that was meant for the next man
Or end up with a deep cut
Or relaxin on a hospital bed, from bein street struck
-
immortal technique - dance with he devil = about how not to go with a gang; or else you will end up raping your mother.

The message I stress: to make it stop study your lessons
Don't settle for less - even the genius asks-es questions
Be grateful for blessings
Don't ever change, keep your essence
The power is in the people and politics we address
Always do your best, don't let the pressure make you panic
And when you get stranded
And things don't go the way you planned it
Dreamin of riches, in a position of makin a difference
Politicians and hypocrites, they don't wanna listen
If I'm insane, it's the fame made a brother change
It wasn't nuttin like the game
It's just me against the world
Don't get no realer than this partner.
