I think she's extremely overrated.
-
her music is dope.
-
Great singer, but her music was kinda boring to me.
-
A great and very talented singer who had so much potential... Are You That Somebody is one of my favourite R&B joints ever!
~R.I.P. Aaliyah Dana Haughton, the real princess of R&B~
I made a tribute mix CD a couple of years ago, I'll up it on August 25 so check that out if you're an Aaliyah fan...

She never even reached her full potential. She was about to be a movie star too. Sad situation. RIP.
-
I remember her being one of the first to but Hip-Hop beats to an R&B track. Some tried it, like TLC, but they couldn't find a formula that truly worked until CrazySexyCool, and Mary J of course, as she's the queen of Hip-Hop Soul (not really the best, but she was the first) and Aaliyah used that style to her own, and she was a young girl. She was 15 when she came out, and she had a whole new style. Of course R. Kelly was the one that was her producer, and we all know how that story was. But still, she was a very young talent who was just barely starting on in life, and she had been in the game 6 years. Such a sad situation for someone so young and talented.

She was a good artist. I used to like her. She was big when I was growing up. Wow, saying that made me feel old.
R.I.P.!!
-
Someone above said that she was overated, well that's because she had'nt hit her full potential yet when she passed away and she was about to reach her prime and would have been huge.
She passed away tragically a month before 9/11 occured. Wow...2001 was a tragic year... RIP to Aaliyah and the victims of 9/11.
-
her music was dope as fuck, R.I.P. you got her and timbaland's chemistry to thank for her best stuff, i don't think r&b music has really gone very far since her passing away, her stuff still sounds cutting edge right now...

R.I.P. Aaliyah
She was one of the few new school R&B acts I listened to.
One In A Million is a classic.

Her Remake Of The Isley Bros' "At Your Best" Is A Great Track.

I liked Aaliyah alot, i thought she was a great singer/dancer and all around great person. I think one of the saddest things about her death is that she died before she reached her full potential. We will never know how far she would of gone in music or if she would've made it in movies. She may be gone physically but she will live on through her music forever.
R.I.P. Aaliyah :'(
