Title: What's The Soundscan Figures For Kurupts 3 Major Label Albums? And Daz's RRGB?
Post by: TraceOneInfinite on August 03, 2006, 06:12:35 AM
Anybody have exact figures.  Cause I mean, I remember "Kuruption" debuted at #6 and went gold, but I was wondering what the exact figures are today.  I know "Streetz is a Mutha" is his best record but I think it actually sold the least out of the three, and suprisingly "Space Boogie" I remember debuted at #10, so it may have hit gold by now.

Anybody got access to info like this?

btw, I'd really appreciate the current soundscan figures for Daz's album "Revenge Retaliation Get Back".  It debuted at #6 but I'm really dissapointed that "In California" didn't get the radio/video play it deserved to send the album to multiplatinum status like it deserved.

what chart did space boogie debut at #10?

All the charts I mentioned were overall Billboard charts.

actually the marketing/promo for space boogie was pretty good
there were many ads and that it's over song became a pretty big hit

I'm pretty sure "Kuruption!", "Streetz iz a mutha", and "Retaltiation, Revenge, and Get Back" have at least gone gold.  I heard 800,000 for Daz's album, though I don't think that number is accurate

RAW @ 300K is very good, that shit was independent, when independent hustling wasn't too popular as well

I wonder how much he made per cd because if he made the $10 per he claimed he was making, a cool $3 million

That was when Death Row resembled a normal label.  Most labels buyback their own albums to inflate the numbers.  A recent example is Tony Yayo's album.  G-Unit Records bought about 120,000 copies back to bump it close to gold

but if as snoop said they buy back, the public dosent know its a failure they think ok it went gold but then the label internaly knows it flopped. right?

pretty much...the music and movie business do it all the time, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Lemme use "Larry The Cable Guy Health Inspector" for example.  It flopped at the theatres however since it's coming out on DVD, the studio is going to try to push sales to make up some of the money.  Now, this movie will probably be priced somewhere in the $14-$20 range since it's a new DVD and will be fully stocked at a place like Best Buy.  Since in most markets he's not going to sell, the price will drop on the DVD to probably around $10-$14 after a couple weeks.  Within a month it might be under $10.  Best Buy is now stuck with this DVD that nobody will buy, and they need to make room for a new DVD that will sell, thus the studio will buy back a certain amount of copies to 1) inflate their numbers and 2) pay back Best Buy for carrying that many DVD's.
