Title: In The Mid-Nite Hour
Post by: Spicemuthafuc*in1 on August 05, 2006, 11:42:19 AM
To be honest I got this album last xmas and I never really listened to it that much until now.  This is a good album no doubt, and I LOVE the whole concept of the album.  All the old, classic sounding tracks on the album give it a good feel, all the tracks really flow well w/ each other also.  I slept on this album for far to long  :nawty:

I've bashed this album from the get go on this forum, but last week it was one of the only CDs in my car and I said wtf.  I listened to it, with heavily lowered expectations, and its pretty solid.  I still think its Warren's weakest CD, but I might have to go out and get a copy now.

Yeah he was solid on the album, but what impressed me lyrically was Warren for the most part, he really seemed to branch out and expand his lyrics alot more than his other 4 solo albums

it's the same shit with every cd

everyone bashes it because they think it's gonna be incredible and they leave it alone for a while thinking it sucks forever

then they pick it back up a year later and say "this isn't too bad"

that's why I'm not some idiot faggot who picks up a record and writes my review and critique one hour after I've listened to 1/2 the tracks

Yeah he seemed alot more focused on that album. I thought "Get You Down" Remix was going to blow up after the Katrina disaster.

I thought this album was great from day one. To this day, I don't understand why people are so quick to trash good records. A lot of albums people shitted on, on this board, are some of my favorite records.

I had listened to it at least 5 or 6 times over the course of months, and still hated it.

I was amazingly suprised with "In The Mid-Nite Hour". It exceeded my expecations. Warren is, and always will be one of my favourite rappers. I didn't dislike Return Of The Regulator as much as most did. I really think that In The Mid-Nite Hour was Warren's best effort since his 1st album. I liked how he had Snoop & Nate on there, and he had a bunch of new and up and coming cats like Bishop Lamont, Chuck Taylor, etc. solid 4 starts outta 5.

Being a HUGE Warren fan, i was/am extremely disappointed in this cd.  I'd rate it as Warren's worst, but some songs still sound pretty tight.

It seems everyone likes the new Warren G, with the low voice and new flow/better lyrics. but i miss the smooth shit, the sing-song type flow and "N-X-E-T" shit man, that laidback smooth shit.  Oh well, i pray Warren drops another album, only one disappointment out of 5, I don't know what Snoop was saying about all his shit being garbage!??  BUt i guess now we know why Warren NEVER produces on Snoop solo albums.......

Yep, I agree.

Did Snoop say all of Warren's music is garbage? For real?

BTW, I'll never understand all the hating towards ROTR. It is one of my very favourite albums. 5/5 to me, and his 2nd best only behind his debut. There's many albums that I like but I can understand people not liking it, but ROTR... every Warren/G-Funk fan should like it, in my opinion.

For sure, ROTR is my second favourite Warren G album after Regulate, i think the album is great from the first song to the last song.  Too many dope songs, and MISTA GRIMM was incredible on ROTR.  With Grimm's lyrics, charisma, and flow, i can't figure out how he never blew up...........

You proberly didnt like Take a Look, I Want It All and all the other records when they dropped either because they were "something different" or whatever. I dunno, the beats on this CD are 2nd II None and Warren's lyrics are cool and relevant.

Uh, i actually LOVED Take A look and I want It all  by the way.............I like "different" shit, to me thats the problem with Midnight Hour, it sounds like everything else, really bland
