Title: Classic "hard to find" albums
Post by: Soopahigh on August 09, 2006, 04:45:51 AM
Can someone name the best hard to find westcoast albums ?

Off the top of my head:

Lil' 1/2 Dead - Steel On A Mission, The Dead Has Arisen

Above The Law - Uncle Sam's Curse

Twinz - Conversation

DJ Quik - Under Tha Influence (fairly recent but distribution problems made this hard to find)

I think The Dove Shack album is hard to find in a lotta places, although I did see a copy for £20 in HMV Bond Street, London.

A lot of West Coast albums are hard to find over here in the UK (in the high street stores anyway) >:(

Can't think of any more right now, but I'm sure some board vets will step in and add a few more.

Thing is with most rare albums, they'll turn up on the Net eventually so they ain't hard to find.

If you talking about really hard to find stuff, then start with the Death Row vaults like:

LBC Crew album
Sam Sneed album
Danny Boy album

One is floating around in bits and pieces (LBC Crew), the other two you'll never get to hear in full.

I know the Danny Boy album was finished, Frank Alexander talked about hearing it in his book but the only track that is "available" from that one is Slip-N-Slide and its remix...

And the only Sam Sneed tracks I can think of are Blueberries, In The Zone and the OG version of Lady heroin which was a J-Flexx song...

Are there any more tracks that have been leaked??

I haven't heard of "Put It Down" and I think Golden Child was released off D.R. as Sam Sneed shouts out Aftermath.

Also, in an interview Sam said that his album consisted mainly of other rappers over his production; there weren't many solo tracks.

A lot of the albums listed here aren't really that hard to find except for a few (ATL's "Uncle Sam's Curse" being one).  And most of them don't deserve "classic" status either.  Generally speaking, if something really is a "classic", that means more than a few people think of it that way, making the designation earned.  If something's out of print, that means it's forgotten and probably not worthy of "classic" status.

The Lench Mob - Guerillas in the Mist

That is most def not hard to find at all.  The local FYE and Tower Records in my city always have copies of that.  When I went out looking for to replace my old copy (about a year ago), I got it at Tower Records without any problem for like $12.

ah dont think like that ! a album can be considered as a classic even out of print !!! Listen DGSB - The Album or The D.E.E.P - Parlayin and tell me if that's not 2 classics shit !!!!

I've never even heard of those two albums.  Chances are, they ain't worth my time for that reason.

If an album is out of print, that means it was forgettable.  And if it's forgettable, that means it doesn't deserve classic status.
