Death Row/Tha Row Records isnt making their way back to anything.  So far the only thing they have been able to do is put out re-prints of the stuff Dre did.  Big deal.  And that was to exploit the niggas, and to generate money to keep the label afloat.  Then you have the Tupac albums.  Big deal again.  Afeni Shakur went and fucked all that stuff off.  Basically if Tha Row wants to release anything Tupac, they have to get hoe'd out by Afeni.  So that brings us to the current release list for 2002.  Crooked I has never had an album out.  A decent number of people seem to like him but he isnt a mutha fuckin name to the rest of the world.  He has a lot to prove.  You have Lisa Lopez/Left-Eye/NINA.  She has had success with TLC but thats it.  No song she was ever featured on as a guest artist has been a hit.  Her solo album that was released in europe flopped (which is why it wasnt released over here).  Nobody is anticipating her shit.  Anyone who wants to hear a bitch rap will buy Eve or Lil Kim, not Left-Eye.  And now we're at Kurupt.  He is the only nigga that has any potential to bring Tha Row a big album.  I say potential because not everything this nigga does is hits!  Anyone remember the Kuruption album?

One more thing to consider.  Tha Row's top producer is Hutch from Above The Law.  You've got to be kidding me.  This nigga has been in the rap industry since 1987 and has never been able to produce a hit.  He hasnt even produced a gold album, much less platinum.  He has a very small, dedicated fan base but thats it.  He has proven himself unable to create hits.

The only way Death Row/Tha Row Records will EVER be any kind of name in the music industry again is if they BUY their way back into the business.

Thats not entirely correct. She was featured on a song by one of those bitches from Spice Girls. That son was a major hit (atleast in Europe)

I'm not aware of this but if its true then it makes her situation even worse.  Say she was on this hit song, then drops her album and it flops.  If you cant get people to buy your music where you're 'hot', forget it!  You got to be wack as fuck to wind up in that situation.

It wasnt Kurupt. It was something linked to Kurupt. I dont remember well.. maybe his agent, or bodyguard, or his previous record label. But not Kurupt himself. I'm 100% sure.

About Lisa Lopez... well.. she really famous here in Italy. And they care about R&B and Pop Music here, so.. it's not a bad move to sign her. I mean.. Suge aint stupid. She already made 2 tracks with Pac, other tracks with Richie Rich and other rappers... She can bring some attention and his album will be R&B. I like this acquisition. And dont forget about DeVante! He's the godfather! I just love him! Plus J.Valentine is off the hook. And P.B.! They got some talent, no doubt.

lol

the row ain't back even if they really do got kurupt

as much as i love kurupt all of his albums have STRUGGLED drastically to go gold. Crooked I is great but i doubt he's going to bring them any kind of great exposure, he'll do what kurupt does and that's barely hit gold.

Lisa Lopez is nohing to brag about, she's only a thinner version of Angie Martinez

and every one else on the row is pure crap

lol, but it was kurupt's former managers that sued Tha Row for $10 million, not Kurupt.  But the look of the roster now:

Crooked I
Kurupt
Eastwood
Spider
SKG
Nina
J. Valentine
PB
Above The Law
Ray J (once the contract shit clears up)

then you have Hutch, Vargas, and Devante producing, plus Quik will be doing producing, as well as possibly Fred Wreck, since he's cool with Kurupt.

It's funny Jake pointed that out when Kurupt signs with Tha Row, but I bet if Kurupt signed with Dogghouse, that comment would have never been written

I agree I don't understand why Jake hates so much. I always been a fan of Kurupt own all three of his albums and the DPG one he drop on Daz label. I just don't understand why people like Jake starts to hate on an artist because of what label logo it has on the back of they cd.

it's sad really, considering he was also the kid that said Eastwood and Spider Loc were about as good as AllfrumthaI, though Eastwood and Spider Loc AREN'T a group, and he probably had never heard of eastwood before his appearance on "Next Niggaz".  I could imagine what some of Snoop's fans would say if Kurupt had signed with Dogg House:

"Great Move Snoop :)"
"Kurupt's shit will be hot"
"Kurupt will get some more exposure now that he's on Snoop's label"

but now that he's on Tha Row, all the negative shit pours in, what a suprise!  I could imagine some of the people that post on here would have to seek professional help if/when Tha Row becomes the #1 west coast label again, and if, miraculously, Kurupt eases the tension between Snoop/Dre/Daz and Suge.

you can't make that judgement so quickly, cuz:

1. AFTI has 2 albums out, while Spider Loc has 2 verses on 2 different songs and Eastwood has one verse on a song

2. They've never released a song together or had solo songs together

3. THEY ARE NOT A GROUP!

1. true, but why are you making such a big deal about them then, hell if i'm judging too quick than so are you

2. i never said they did, my whole point is that they're quality is only as good as All frum the I's

3. again i never said they were

1. I've heard 2 solo songs and a Freestyle from Eastwood and 3 solo songs from Spider, so I have a better idea of what each can bring to the table than most of what everyone else has/can judge it on

2. what do u mean by quality?  sounds like SugeFIght saying which shit is relavent or not.  And what's your reasoning behind why their quality is the same as AllfrumthaI?

3. You can't compare a group to 2 solo artists.  You can compare groups to other groups (Wu Tang vs. Outlawz for example) and solo artists to solo artists, but a group/artist comparison isn't fair to the solo artists artists, especially since Eastwood and Spider haven't released anything together as of yet.

1. good for you, maybe i'm wrong, but from what i've heard they're nothing all that special, until i hear these "great" recordings i'm sticking to my opinion

2. what they bring (from what i've heard) is almost the same quality (lyrically and content wise) is only is about as good as what AFTI

3. yeah you can, theres nothing below AFI to compare them to and anything above AFI would be overrating both of them

u know....i think the only way tha row has been keeping itself in the game recently is wit' tha snoop and dre's greatest hits and by saying a new 2pac album is gonna be released.....but if kurupt signs it will gain more recognission.....but i still think they will need more than just kurupt to come right back.....although they will never get back to where they where back 'n tha day!!

in my opinion death row is dead.....and like any other death....it's gonna stay there!

All I gotta say is that Tha Row signing Kurupt....ppl are like...naw he ain't hot anymore and he can't be...but Kurupt knows he gotta bring hot shit or Suge Knight will drop him without any hesitation so Kurupt gonna do well but it amazin how many people refuse to accept that Tha Row are makin the moves to get back as the #1 label but people still don't wanna admit/accept it.

I mean if Kurupt signed for Aftermath it would be a great move by Dre, everybody woul be saying what a great move it was and how Dre & Kurupt together would be tight but cos he with Tha Row he pretty much passed his hot stage!..... ::)

Also I wanna clear sumin up about Tha Row and releasin people's albums that are no longer on Tha Row:

Snoop - Well I am lead to believe that Tha Row paid $1 million to bail him ou of jail and then he goes and leaves Tha Row so all they are doing is getting there money back by releasing Snoops material and pretty much getting him back for screwing Tha Row like that.

Dre - I dunno why Tha Row diss him. Guess they just wanna piss him off cos he left Tha Row in '95. Guess they can' understand why he would leave a label that was the #1 label back then. But then you get the Row haters who hate them and hate everything they do just becos they hated on Dre.

Tupac - Now people hate on Tha Row & Afeni Shakur for these albums. Why? I mean people wait for a Tupac album to drop and go on about how they can't wait for the next release then as soo as Tha Row give the fans what they want and fans decide the album ain't up to scratch they instantly start hating on Tha Rown & Afeni Shakur for releasing the material and saying shit like"they shouldn't be releasin Tupac's material cos it was never there to be released" but you can't want an album to be released and as soon as it ain't what you expected instantly hate the label for releasing becos it was for people like yourself that they were releasing it for in the first place cos I mean if a lot of Tupac fans (at least 75%) didn't want any more Tupac albums released then Tha Row probably wouldn't do it (and any1 who say they would is just hatin on Tha Row) also Tha Row probably aren't the ones always wanting to released the album Afeni probably starts the release just to get her money and also Interscope get a % of the money but I don't see any1 hating on them!!!!! Is it becos Dre's label is part of Interscope?????

Death Row Records did NOT pay $1million for Snoop's legal fee's during his murder trial.  The total cost that Death Row Records put out was in the neighborhood is $130,000.  It was Interscope Records that picked up the biggest chunk of those fee's.  This is because the lead defense attorney on that case, David Kenner, worked as both as an officer and an legal representation for Death Row Records which by law created a conflict-of-interest.  By law, David Kenner and his team could not be hired directly by Death Row Records to represent Snoop.  This is mostly a technical situation and if you really really want to under how it worked just look up all this information in the public domain.  You can order photocopies of the actual court documents as well.

On the subject of Dre.  He sold his stake (50%) in Death Row Records (to Interscope Records for $200million) for one very simple reason.  He didn't have control over the working atmosphere and environment.  Basically saying, he wasn't happy.  There was a lot of illegal activity taking place at the Can-Am Studios, there were a lot of death threats being made, there were a lot of legal problems surrounding the label.  Dre did the right thing.  He got out (before the companies worth went down the drain), alive, and put himself in a position where he could work free & clear of others.

Tupac.. His life & death is being exploited by those people.  Especially his own mother who is censoring his material by not allowing certain subject matters to be released.  Meaning she won't allow the release of Tupac's music where violence against women is being promoted or even discussed.  It's the biggest form of disrespect you give the nigga.  They should have either released his music in its original form or not release it at all so fuck Death Row Records & Afeni Shakur both for butchering and censoring his music like that.
