If Dre did'nt exist, who would be #1 out here on the West Coast?
www.myspace.com/thablaqsinattra
-
The Big Bad Azz Bank$ta from the dangerous crew.
-
mannie fresh
-
If they had the same backing as Dre (i.e. had the interscope machine, money & marketing) I'd say DJ Quik...
-
Quik
-
Quiksta.
-
quik
-
DJ Quik
especially today, he runs laps around all those guys
-
Quik, with or without Dre in the picture.
-
Easily Alchemist, then Warren G, but why is there no Fredwreck, Khalil & Evidence on the list..
-
Either Quik or Battlecat...
-
yall sleep on rick rock but if he had dres resources hes be crazy dope. its all about styles though, you cant categorize one dude as the would-be best. i think rick rock, alchemist, and quik would be the three best, because all three have different styles that are dope in different ways.
-

I forgot Fred but it looks like Quik was gonna take it regardless
-
Fredwreck is right behind.... I wish he would be more active tho
-
If it was in their prime I would pick Daz as #2 and Warren as #3 and DJ Quik at #4.
I enjoyed beats by Daz '94-'95 and Warren '94-'95 at their peak as much as I liked Dre's beats.
-
Quik 8)
-
I gotta go with DJ Quik.
-
Quik, then Battlecat. Dre is overrated as hell. I can't believe the way people bust nuts when they hear a Dre production.
-
I voted for Meech, because well it's obviously Quik, Meech is so good. His tracks with Snoop and the Eastsidaz are top notch, and his the most sleeped on producer in the west. His Last Meal track should have had him producing more Snoop and DPG tracks.
-
The dopest beat Meech Wells ever produced Snoop Dogg - Pimp A Pimp
-
Alchemist & DJ Quik

Hell Yeah, and "Issue" from the last meal is one very good too!!!!!!!!
-
The one man band.
-
DJ Quik. I never really got into his music, but his production is top notch.

^I agree about Meech bein' slept on, he's definitely underrated especially when it comes to the work he did on the Eastsidaz/Snoop albums plus the new production he did on the new E-White mixtape...
-
I don't really think I've ever heard a Meech Wells beat I didn't like...
never heard "Pimp a Pimp"... can someone hook me up?
-
Sad to see no love for Warren... :-\
-
DJ Quik
especially today, he runs laps around all those guys
not Ant Banks.
-

-

Got love for Warren, but he fell off on his last album. It's too bad because I woulda put him right behind Dre and Quik before In The Mid-Nite Hour.
-
by far on this list is alchemist
jazzie phae got some bangers to though.
daz sound better when he co produce (i.e mike dean)
-
pretty clear

What are you talking about? The beats on "In The Mid-Nite Hour" are still way better than 99% of the shit coming out today...PeACe

I honestly can't find anything wrong with the production on ITMH. There's only two beats I didn't like on it.
-
Quik! He is prob is already tha best!!!
-
DJ Quik
-
why dont yall make a new poll without quik or dre?
-
Dj Quik
Quik is a highly underated & under appreciated producer/mc....With or without Dre, Quik runs circles around Dre on his worst day.
-
DJ Quik, I like Khayree too but he hasn't done much for a while.
-
Defanitely Warren G, DJ Quik, Damizza are the 3 best.
-
Quiksta!!!
-
Sam Sneed! Wish he'd done an album! U better recognize was tha shit!!!
-
Quik, with or without Dre in the picture.
-
Dr. Dre
-
The dopest beat Meech Wells ever produced Snoop Dogg - Pimp A Pimp

dj quik of course...... even though EA ski aint on that list he'd go 2nd...
-
Hold up, is this thread asking about who is the best producer or who makes the best beats? There IS a difference.
-
Here's a quick list...
1.Dr. Dre
2.Warren G
3.DJ Quik
4.Daz Dillinger
5.Fredwreck
6.Battlecat
7.Meech Wells
8.Alchemist
9.Soopafly
10.DJ Pooh
^Fredwreck is a beast when it comes to producing...Fredwreck, Quik, DJ Glaze, Battlecat, THX, Dae One, Problem, Terrace Martin, Soopafly, Warren G, Daz, & Meech Wells are the ones I look for the most on the West...
-
Daz
-
quik
anything less would be uncivilized

A producer in hip-hop is an artist who composes beats...So yea, it's pretty much the same thing...PeACe
-
Vited for Banks, would've hesitated if there was E-A-Ski on the list, but I gotta give it to Quik, even tho I have a hard time enjoying his music.Don't know why
-
Fredwreck, Quik, Alchemist.
-
Of Course DJ QUIK
