New York mixtape stand-out Papoose has reportedly signed with Jive Records.
According to his management's official website, violator.com, The Brooklyn, NY-bred MC has signed a $1.5 million deal with the label. However, the site offered no other information.
At press time, representatives for Jive could not be contacted for comment.
Papoose, who has been co-signed by Busta Rhymes, Nas and Kool G Rap, among others, first came to prominence in 2004 via his song "Alphabetical Slaughter" which was featured on Kay Slay's DJ Kay Slay's Streetsweeper, Vol. 2: The Pain From The Game.
In 2005, he won the Justo Award for the 'Best Underground Rapper' and garnered national attention this year, by appearing on the remix of Busta's single "Touch it"
With the signing, The 28-year-old rapper joins roster that includes The Clipse, Outkast, UGK, Too-Short, R. Kelly and Youngbloodz, among others.
Papoose has been working on his debut album, Nacirema Dream, which is slated to be released this winter or early 2007.

I ain't really feeling this dude. I ain't hating, but is he serious? Dude makes everyone wait so long, to announce he's signing with Jive? Jive is a shit label. They have serious problems promoting your shit. If Papoose is looking for serious main stream success (and he clearly is), Jive ain't the label for him. And what he get? 1 mill, 1.5 mill? Agian, that ain't shit. For someone who is as hyped as he is, that's peanuts. Crooked I signed with Treacherous Records for like 2 mill.

I hate this guy. I don't why, I just can't stand him. Bad news for me because I can expect more guest appearances from him on R&B records that I would normally like by the likes of R Kelly and Joe. And what's wrong with Jive guys? R Kelly has dropped nothing but platinum albums on Jive for the last what 10 years. They were the label that had Britney Spears and NSync, and you saw how much shit they sold.

The only balls Papoose got is DJ Kay Slays. Lloyd banks = King Of NY nigga. Glad to hear Papoose got a deal though we can get an actual album from him pretty soon.

1.5 million is a lot of money for a new artists signing to a major label.

2 mill of what? Cause I'm sure you're not talking about dollars.

When he signed, that's what the news story said. Just like Papoose's said 1.5 mill. Even IF that was wrong, what about G.Malone? Sony gave him 1.7 mill. That's more then Pap too. Dude got fucked over. Either that, or Malone is a better business man.

i like pap.. he aint goin blow up tho

Well, I'm sure there are hundreds of rappers who got signed for less than Malone's 1.7 mill. Guess they all got fucked over, right? lol

I'm just saying, with Pap's hype, that ain't much. Maybe if he signed to like Sony or Interscope for that kind of cash, ok that's fine. But Jive? Sure they've had platinum selling albums (but it wasn't due to exceptional promotion, because you don't really have to promote Outkast or R.Kelly anymore). Pap, is trying to go main stream, so he's gonna need really good promotion. I highly doubt his album will be a hit record.

I CAN OFFICIALLY CALL THIS BULLSHIT.
PAP IS STILL STREETSWEEPERS / FLIPMODE / J RECORDS
