The album is disappointing, but the chorus to Strip Down is the only highlight.

Just got through listening to this, not bad at all but no standout tracks imo.  I need to give this a few more spins and I will but I dont see it comparing to "Married To The Game."  There are some album fillers but most of the album is just solid tracks but again what hurts is the lack of standout tracks on this album.

doesnt it seem jazzy phae is fucken either yelling on every track or sings a wack ass hook?  most of the album is fucked up production wise.  jazzy phae and lil jon are gay.

maybe i need to hear it a couple of more times, but this shit is dissapointing.  come bring BANKS out of his grave, cause these niggaz aint doin it.

Short needs to come back to the bay and fuck these bay area producers.

fuck lil jon & jazzy pha. this album is wack because of them lil jons repetative beats and jazzy annoying ass ruining every track hes on. how u gonna have the bay bridge all on your album cover but your music sounding like its straight from atlanta?  too much dirty south dickriding coming from too short & e-40.

i still dont understand why short named every dirty south rapper ever to grace the mic on "blow the whistle" and not 1 westcoast artist.  i guess he had to suck more dirty south dick to get radio play in the south.

IMO better than his last couple releases.  The Production is hot, and Short sounds energized throughout the record.

I'm curious, if people on this board can tolerate Snoop spitting over Neptunes and Lil' Jon beats, why isn't it ok for Short to rap over Lil' Jon and Jazze Pha beats?

Yeah Short Dog is cool over Lil Jon beats. So is E-40 but I want to hear both Short and 40 water hook back up with Ant Banks. Is that dude dead or something? He has fell off the earth when it comes to producing.

^i still say lil jon and jazzy phae suck.  he needs a producer that samples p funk and shit.  has $hort ever done a song off a Gap Band loop?  that would be the shit!

i heard ant bank$ sells real estate in the east bay.  we need to make a patittion to bring the Big Bad Ass Back.   >:(

Are we listening to the same CD?  After the first listen, this CD is off the hook to me.  IMO its his best and most consistent album since the 90s.  I think every track is AT LEAST solid, if not a fuckin banger.  I think the best part of this CD is how it was put together.  I was waiting for a typical mid album slump, which most CDs have, but instead of putting bullshit tracks in toward the middle, Short Dog decided to switch the style up and put some fly ass Jazze Pha shit on there instead.  I don't see the hate on Jazze Pha either  ??? he drops some real tight ass beats.

Wow its all opinions but damn thats a bold statement.  I think this is ok and its actually growing on me some but imo Married To The Game shits all over this.  There is no song on "Blow the Whistle" that even compares to "How It Goes Down" I meen that song was amazing, there were no standout tracks on this album.  Anyways my fav track on this album is "Sophisticated"  thats a banger.

damn I think "Married to the Game" had a few memorable tracks and that's it.... poor overall

hopefully this is better.... I can't stand those fuckin kick-clap-cowbell Lil Jon beats like on MTTG...

they better not be like it on this album

It is, you arent going to like this if you didnt like MTTG..  There arent as much fillers on this but there are no standout tracks on BTW.

I'm listening to the same cd you are.  Short Dog hasn't sounded this refreshed in a while, and it's way better than MTTG.  Lil' Jon brought some heat...I'm surprised Tha Dogg Pound groupies aren't all over "Sadity" because if that dropped as a single this album would go plat.  Granted it's not on the level that Ant Banks had him on in the early 90's, however when you take it for what it is, it's a nice album.

As for the Jazze Pha criticism, only reason people are hating it is because Jazze Pha is producing for everyone these days and that his tracks have been all over Billboard for the past year, and that he couldn't do the same for that track at the end of "Cali iz Active".  He's probably one of the more underrated producers in the game right now, and it's about time he gets his shine.

There is no song on "Blow the Whistle" that even compares to "How It Goes Down" I meen that song was amazing, there were no standout tracks on this album.

it's ironic because Lil' Jon actually produced that track, yet people are crying that Lil' Jon and Jazze Pha are bring Short Dog's career down.  They didn't even produce half the tracks on MTTG.

Here's another thing for those people who haven't done their homework on Short Dog after he came out of "retirement":  Lil' Jon and Jazze Pha have been producing for Short since '99 and they credit him for giving them the chance to get exposure.  So if you look at it, Too Short has influenced crunk music in a way by cosigning the producers early on.

LOL, "Sadity" is a whole bunch of shit, if this would be a single, people would have to puke. This beat is NOTHING compared to "Blow The Whistle" or "Go To Church", I mean "Blow The Whistle" is the only tight track on this album. And this is sad cause the cover is very nice, I hoped the album would be as good as the cover but it's gay. Always hearing those "phizzle phizzle" damn I hate this. "Burn Rubber Pt. 2" and "Keep Bouncin" are good Tracks, but nuthing special, the rest is for the ass!

hey do you think you could pm me a link to the other version, i wanna see if theres some left over tracks that would be tight that didnt make the cut.  And, if anyone has a No DJ version of "Goin Dumb" ft. Keak Da Sneak, which for some reason didn't make the album, please hook it up.

certified banger in my opinion, i do have that song going dumb without the dj, it was on that mixtape, called American Pimps, it has that plus all the leaked tracks from his album, including remixes of "blow the whistle" with keak da sneak beats. its pretty tight, i like the beats, lil john and too short work good together, but its still hard to compare it with Married to the Game.

After first listen.........7/10

I'd say....

Standout tracks:
Blow the whistle
Keep bouncin
Sophistocated

Positives:
Overall, album has consistent sound...keeps the same mood throughout, not much contradiction
Not too many songs that are unlistenable
Sounds as if it was put together well, and as if they spent time on making it
Still has strong sense of humor, funny as hell even when the lines are hella cliche

Negatives:
3/4 of the songs sound uninspired, and like something I've heard before
Some may not mind, but as with many other Too Short albums, he just overuses "bitch" and depends on it as a crutch
Only real standout tracks to me are the singles....on past albums, he had songs that you just wanted to hear all the time like "Burn rubber" and these songs became singles just because of their strength and because people liked em
Sounds as if you can get tired of it real quick, especially since many songs just sound like something else....Sadity sounds almost identical to "U and dat", Money Maker sounds 95% IDENTICAL to "Snap ya fingers"

And personally......the worst thing about this album is that it aims to be a down south album...but the main singles sound very west coast, and aren't even getting played in the south at all.....and on the flip side, people on the west coast who hope it will sound west because of the singles will be disapppointed because only the singles sound west coast.....so it might not sell much unless one of these songs blows up like "Shake that monkey"

why did Too $hort work with Jazze Pha? Everybody knows that dude's wack

1) Short's been working with him for 7 years
2) because he's a dope producer who can get artists on the charts

Jazze Pha is a goofy lookin fat motherfucker, with some annoying beats sometimes and annoying adlibs

but I've been known to like a little of his production here and there....

I dont know I meen this album is ok but again there are no standouts and thats a huge problem. The best thing about the album is the way it flows together but still its just not the type of album that you would still bump in a month or two.
i think theres definitley some standouts

Blow The Whistle
Money Maker
Nothing Feels Better
Sophisticated
Hoes ft. Jazze Pha & Bun B
Baller ft. David Banner
Saditty ft. Dogg Pound

All of those are standouts IMO

Fo sho, I think this album is a slumper!

what happened to tracks like "Hobo Hoeing" and "What She Gonna Do" and "Don't Act Like That" and "Married to the Game" from his last one?

I knew he was gonna have the Lil Jon beats, but I was at least hoping for a mix  :P
