Title: Kurt Angle released by WWE
Post by: Real American on August 25, 2006, 09:10:38 PM
Angle released
Aug. 25, 2006

Due to personal issues Kurt Angle has been granted an early release from his contract. WWE looks forward to establishing a new relationship with Kurt in the near future.

The only gold medalist in WWE history, Kurt Angle arrived in 1999 and quickly became one of the most decorated champions in sports-entertainment history. "The Wrestling Machine" is not only a six-time World Champion, but also held the Intercontinental Championship, Tag Team Championship and won the 2000 King of the Ring tournament. Recently joining ECW, Angle’s unmatched intensity was rivaled only by his technical and athletic in-ring prowess.

If he and the company didn't have a falling back, he'll be back.

They didn't have a falling out, you can tell by the way it's worded on the site.

Falling out:

"Kurt Angle and WWE have came to terms on releasing Kurt from his contract early.  We wish Kurt the best in his future endeavors"

Not falling out Kurt just needed to leave so they let him hoping that he'll be back:

"Kurt is a 6 time world champion, a tag team champion; his intensity in the ring is only matched by his technical prowess on the mat"

backstage news was that he was sort of complaining on how he was used and he always tried pitching in his ideas and stuff after the move to ECW.

while he was on Smackdown and Raw, he never did that.

plus WWE forced him to take time off.

if he wasn't happy because of that, then there is a chance he might no go back to them and the WWE was just using a tactic to try and keep excellent relations with him; unless WWE offers him a whole lotta cash or something.

Former WWE champion Kurt Angle commented on his release yesterday from the company in an article published on the WWE website this afternoon. The article positions Angle's release as something mutually agreed upon by Angle and World Wrestling Entertainment.

Angle commented to the website, "My body is so beat up and run down, I can't even think straight." He said that the seven years of running on the road for the company have taken a major toll on him emotionally and physically, noting, "I haven't been able to really enjoy my life. I haven't seen my family, I've had problems with medication - I'm just fried physically and mentally." Angle's business manager David Hawk noted that the former Olympic Gold Medalist has been using prescription medication to deal with the situation and at this point, does not intend to return to the ring unless he can do so without the continued aid of prescription medication.

Angle's injuries from his final WWE match (as of now) in White Plains, New York against Rob Van Dam were noted as well, with Angle commenting, "Early on in the match, I pulled my groin, but I kept going, feeding off the crowd. Then I pulled my abdominal muscle off the pelvic bone, but I kept going as the crowd grew more wild. Finally, I blew out my hamstring, but we finished the match."

Angle noted in the article that there is no timeframe for his possible return to the company and that he is focusing on getting better, physically and mentally

Wade Keller's analysis on the Kurt Angle story

From PWTorch.com:

The fact that Angle has been wrestling a full time schedule has been of concern to colleagues the past few years. Although he apparently did his best to mask it from Vince McMahon, several friends and colleagues of his say he has been using a lot of medication to get through his matches and mask his pain for years, to the point that people feared for his life. The circumstances of Angle's departure from the company is odd, in the sense that WWE isn't keeping him under contract and offering to pay him as he heals and rehabs. His "problem with medication" is a direct result of wear and tear from him doing his job according to what was asked of him by WWE, so it seems crass to not keep him under contract while he gets the help and the time off he needs. Angle's comments add to the case that I've been making for a dozen years in print that wrestlers deserve and need mandatory extended vacation every year, with a rotation that allows WWE to provide first-run programming every week year round, but gives wrestlers a chance to gather themselves mentally and physically and spent quality time with family or any non-wrestling related activity at least twice a year for at least a full month.

http://nodq.com/wwe/158652515.shtml

a full month may be too long twice a year; i think 2 or 3 weeks twice a year is more reasonable

Details on Kurt Angle meeting with Vince McMahon

Chris Johnson reporting:

According to Mike Johnson, Kurt Angle and his agent met with Vince McMahon Friday afternoon in Stamford, CT. McMahon demanded of Angle that he seek help and take
action for his recent personal problems and injuries. These demands were refused by Angle and he was released from the company. Angle did not ask for his release. Right now it is not known if Angle has a 90-day no compete clause on his contract or not but most likley he does. The WWE is interested in bringing Angle back but only if or when he gets his life and problems in order.

this story just a little bit more interesting now...
