Elton John was talking to us about his upcoming album, The Captain and the Kid, due out next month, when he dropped a bomb about his plans for the project after that: he intends to record a hip-hop album with Dr. Dre. Sir Elton has yet to personally discuss this project with Dre but he’s dead serious about the prospect. “I want to bring my songs and melodies to hip-hop beats — a bit like no ‘No Diggity’ by Blackstreet,” said the Rocket Man, who’s also a huge fan of Tupac’s 1995 hit “California Love,” “I love these beats, but I have no idea how to get them.”
“I want to work with Pharrell, Timbaland, Snoop, Kanye, Eminem and just see what happens. It may be a disaster, it could be fantastic, but you don’t know until you try.” Doubters are referred to Elton’s 2001 Grammy performance of “Stan” with Eminem, which really wasn’t so shabby. For more about all this (including reaction from Bernie Taupin!) and more info about The Captain and the Kid, check out the September 7th issue of Rolling Stone.

LOL/SMH @ Elton John and Dre making an album together before another Snoop/Dre album

Man you all need to learn how to read the whole post and not just the title of the thread.
It says that Elton John hasn't even talked to Dre about this project yet. He just would like to work with Dre.
-
No way this would ever happen; but yo, his song Tiny Dancer is beyond classic, who really gives a fuck is dude is gay?
-

This shit ain't ever going down. Even if Elton would talk to Dre today about it, Elton would have plenty of time to make 10 albums and retire before Dre would even start on this.
-
Will never happen but Dre working with Elton John would be more interesting than Dre working with bullshit like the Dogg Pound.

yup..

this would be so dope but it will never happen

Elton John is an extremely talented artist... I would love to see this project happen. His work with Eminem has been excellent, his performance with him and the piano part he added to "Stan" was perfect, and his track he did for the last 2pac record was the best song on the album.
I don't know how much Dre will be able to do for the record, but I would definitely be interested in this project, Elton John has made classic records like "Candle In The Wind" that will breathe for centuries, he's a legend.

I disagree.
I really respect him for doing "Stan" with Eminem. He took Eminem's back at a time when the rest of the gay community was against him, because Elton John's musical intelligence was broad enough to understand that Eminem didn't really hate gay people, and that Eminem was just expressing himself as an artist.

I totally agree I was being sarcastic but you know that's what a lot of other posters will be thinking.

why would dre wanna work with the dogg pound?
Dre doesn't want to work with the Dogg Pound because the Dogg Pound are washed up but most people here would rather see him work with the Dogg Pound than Elton John. I'm saying him working with Elton John would be more interesting than him working with some washed up west coast rappers who fell off years ago

it may not happen but there is a better chance it will then a dre/snoop album
-
lol at the replys.

Dre and Elton John have totally different approaches to music, it would never work because Dre will not work outside of his comfort zone. He's gonna do it his way or no way. He might be able to get 1 track done with somebody completely different, by making them leave THEIR comfort zone, but he'd never have the patience to finish an entire album with somebody he didn't have just complete dominance over.
P.S., Elton John is one of the greatest pop musicians to ever live. My favorite song of his is "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters"
-
yeah i too was thinking bout making an album with dre. Still need to find some contact info but am sure it will happen!
