I am probably hella late.......
But I am just now really listening to Cali is active, since my main car in L.A. didn't have a CD Player and I couldn't find the album when I was out lookin for it....and I was just goin through songs on my computer, and I came across "Real soon"....and said damn, this song wasn't even on Cali iz active!!! I remember this song getting a LOT of play in December and January in L.A., and I remember the video for it...but I had completely forgot about it until today.
So just so I can catch up....why didn't this song end up being on their album?
-
It was on their "Welcome To The Chuuch Tha Album" they put out last year so I guess they didn't want it on two albums...it might have helped CIA sell though since "Real Soon" blew up for a while...

yeah it was actually a good song..Im glad it wasnt on the album it didnt really fit anyway..oh and notice that this was a DPGC track not a Tha Dogg Pound track

That always confused me...........so....let me get it straight. Cali iz active was a Dogg Pound album, which just had Snoop on most songs....while Real Soon was meant to be a DPGC album, meaning Snoop Daz n Kurupt?
I do remember them discussing both projects...but seeing Snoop all over CIA, I figured that this album was really a DPGC album even though it wasn't called one.

from what I understand...the Dogg Pound project was supposed to be a reunion album with the whole family as DPGC, but they later change the idea to go for a Tha Dogg Pound album with Daz & Kurupt....the first idea was better in my opinion since DPGC has Rage, Nate, Soopafly etc...

And yet Snoop Dogg was still on the cover. :P
Real Soon is a dope song. Heart-felt, yet still has that gangsta swagger. Don't know why they put it on Welcome to da Chuuuch. Didn't do shit for the album sales wise.

soopafly could have saved CIA ;D

i was listening to this song today in the whip and forgot how dope it was. this shit is a classic. it was on the radio every hour during its peak. it could have done alot better as a single for the album.
