i know u really cant put your finger on who started hip hop but who are some of tha first peeps to be recorded for startin hip hop back in tha late 70's early 80's
-
dawm i don't know , i'll go with a guy like rakim
-
Kool Herc is probably the true originator but your can't discount Afrika Bambatta and the Zulu Nation of the late 70's
-
Sugar Hill Gang, Afrikka Bambaataa
-
first thing that popped in my head was sugar hill gang
-
Sugar Hill Gang dropped the first record "Rappers Delight" while their pioneers they aren't the orginators.
-
Kool Herc in 1973. November 12 he was the first to used two turntables at a block party, which is as basic of hip-hop as possible. Even Afrikka Bambaataa admits this.

I go with mix master spade
-
When Kool Herc started it wasn't hip hop, just his style. It evolved into hi hop so he gotta be the one that started it. Africa Bambaataa and flash and all those always tried to copy him, they admit that ;D
The sad part is that neither of them are making any money of it.

DJ Kool Herc, he's basically the main originator.
-
DJ Kool Herc, Taki 183, Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambatta's Zulu Nation....... but really, the godfather of hip-hop was....
Robert Moses. An unelected New York official who exerted tyrannical control over the Big Apple's city planning in the 50's and 60's. He destroyed communities biulding the Cross Bronx expressway. The first CBE generation picked up the pieces by starting a culture using aerosol spray cans as a vehicle of self-expression. The last three elements of hip-hop soon followed.
