Sup yall, thought it was time to drop another classic. I personally think that this is this group's most overlooked track - it seems like you never hear it mentioned when people name their favorite GANGSTARR jams. Gangstarr had many classic joints prior to this one, but for me personally this song really revolutionized Primo's production and laid the foundation for his legendary style.
When I think of pure raw Hip Hop, this song embodies it: The beat in itself is simple, yet perfect. It's just begging to be ripped - sick violin loop over a bread and butter 3 kick drum and snare. The best part in my opinion is the chorus - no words, no samples, just Primo cuttin the shit out of the record. Then you've got Guru the self proclaimed "King of Monotone" dropping his thought provoking knowledge and coming with dope lyrics.
It's the essence of hip hop to me, 1 DJ & 1 MC - sick beats & sick raps.
So you know the drill...Crank the shit out of your speakers and bang this motherfucker out 8) (and dont forget the feedback motherfuckers!)

Props! 8)
I love checking out these threads because I always learn something new. It makes you appreciate how good the music really was back then. I had never heard this song. It's still not my favorite Gang Starr song, but then again I have a lot of learning to do. The first song I heard by Gang Starr was "The Militia" back in '98. Thanks again. I'm looking forward to part VIII.
