Sony has started to drop the ball, huge. As posted by others, Sony has announced scaled back launch plans of the PS3 system; with only an estimated 2 mil available by the end of the year. That's twice the number of Xbox 360's that were available in the same time period last year; however, Nintendo is holding fast to claims that they can produce 4 million Wii's by the end of the year, and analysts are expecting Nintendo to be able to sell nearly all of them.
Layman's terms: Most analysts expect Nintendo to sell 4 million Wii systems world wide this year; Sony cannot possibly sell more than 2 million.
Also, Analysts are continuously estimating higher sales for the Nintendo DS, and lower sales for the Sony PSP. One analyst has the DS selling 8 million systems by years end in America, with the PSP selling only 7.
Other good news; retail sites are starting to list Wii accessories, including Wii-branded "SD" cards for storage; a 512M card will be available for 39.99, with a 1G memory card available for 59.99.... by comparison, an Xbox 360 card with only 64m of memory retails for 39.99, while a 256M retails for 59.99. Apparently any SD card will work with the Wii system; yet 1 more way Nintendo is going to dominate the gaming market come this fall.

Of course they're gonna outsell the PS3, they'll have no trouble reaching those figures when they're planning to sell the Wii for the fraction of the price of the PS3. Sony have no choice but to sell it at a high price coz it has more shit on it's system.
The Wii is nice, but come on, honestly.........do you think it'll overtake Sony AND Microsoft? People will still fork out USD4-5hundy for the PS3!!!

I still cant decide on what to buy.. Wii or PS3.. I really dig the Wii's originality and controller. Ps3 though has as you guys said some better games most likely.

get a wii and xbox 360 for the same price as the ps3,the 360 has a much more stronger llineup of games coming out over the next few years then sony,plus ubisoft just announced that assasins creed wont be exclusive to ps3 anymore and that it will indeed be coming out for 360. Just look at e3, microsoft easily had the best lineup of games . Get the wii for its originality and for how its gonna be different , u shouldnt really be deciding on a wii or ps3 since there totally different , best option imho is the 360 and the wii

Nintendo & Microsoft comment on PS3 delay.....(taken from site who ganked it from some other place)
With the news of the European PS3 launch delay, certain competitors might be eager to seize on the opportunity to push extra units over the holidays. Nintendo was rather subdued in its comments, while Microsoft was a bit more forthcoming, while industry analysts say the delay won't affect things too much, except for European stores who might be in a jam, and predict Nintendo might have the most to gain.

We know how challenging it is to pull off a global launch, particularly with unproven technology, so it's not surprising that Sony has backed away from their previously announced launch plans. Europe remains a priority for us and that is why gamers have been able to experience Xbox 360 from day 1 and why we're confident we're going to have a great holiday, regardless of what competitors are or are not in the market. Xbox 360 will have over 160 high-definition games including Viva Piñata from Rare, Gears of War from Epic, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 from Konami and FIFA 2007 from EA, a robust and continuously growing online gaming community in Xbox Live, fantastic entertainment capabilities, optional HD-DVD movie playback capability and a great-value price.
Nintendo :
Wii is on track to ship in Q4, Nintendo plans to ship 6 million systems to retailers around the world between its launch in the fourth quarter of 2006 and the end of its fiscal year on March 31, 2007.
Wedbush Morgan Securities' Michael Pachter responded to Next-Gen saying : "....not a big deal in the long run. The people who were going to buy PS3 and Wii will buy them both still, albeit in a different order. Few people were going to buy Xbox 360 and PS3 both, so there may be a small number of people who buy a 360 instead of a PS3. That number represents lost sales forever. The balance will be ultimately captured by Sony, and the launch delay will be a rounding error in the long run."
1Up spoke to Ben Bajarin, Creative Strategies; Michael Pachter, Wedbush Morgan Securities; and Mike Wolf, ABI Research
Wolf: "I'm sure they [Nintendo and Microsoft] are happy about it. The negativity towards the PS3 in the blogosphere... will help a bit. It's the second Christmas with a new generation of platforms, and Sony will not be there for some of those guys. If you have $600 in your pocket this Christmas, it'll be tempting to get the combo platter -- Xbox 360 and Wii."

Nintendo for the past year or more has had a 'we don't give a fuck' attitude about any questions about Xbox or PS3, they generally won't even comment on the other systems and claim they're not in competition with them. They even said some shit about if Sony and Microsoft are Coke and Pepsi, Nintendo's 7-up.

Wii will sell pretty well IF they have more support from the 3rd parties then the past...N64 and Gamecube didnt do well cuz it had shitty ass games...the majority of the good games were from nintendo themselves...most of the 3rd parties supported Microsoft & Sony...we'll see if nintendo learned their mistakes from the past...

They better do some mature games for the Wii. Nintendo games are fun, but after a while the childish games with their childish ass bright colors start pissing me off.

We've been over this a hundred times, Nintendo has released a flood of press statements and screen shots and announcements from third party developers, all without an exception are extremely excited about the Wii and the controller possibilities. EA is the greatest developer in the world, they've made a special Madden utilizing the control scheme exclusively for the Wii. Every game released on the Wii will be 'exclusive' because the controller function is inimitable. the second largest game developer in the world is Nintendo themselves, and they've announced a full comliment of every type of Nintendo 1st party game for the system. Activision, Konami, Capcom, etc. every type of third party developer you can think of has announced support for the system.
There's also a ton of exclusive mature audience games coming out for the system like "Sadness" and Red Steel (I think that's what it's called). Nintendo will never have more mature games than the 360 or PS3, though, because that's not their focus. "Dark" games are often gimmicky and not fun once you get past the blood and cursing. Nintendo's never made a 1st party game in their career that 'wasn't fun' , they won't be starting now.
Nintendo also made it half as expensive for a developer to make a Wii game than a PS3 game or an Xbox 360 game. You cannot get any more friendly with third party developers than Nintendo has made it this time around; they're going to make a fortune and you'll probably find yourself buying one.

All about the Wii at the mo. You'll be pretty fucking stupid to get a PS3 on launch for that price unless you actually want the Blu-Ray drive. The games on there don't look any more impressive then Xbox 360's.
