Westcoast Hip-Hop will never be dead as long as artists innovate and strive for something fresh and most importantly move with the times.
With that in mind allow me to introduce a duo that will be familiar to some and completely new to many. Drastik and Nudlez are Blood Cousins from the westocast.
Drastik hails from Santa Monica and Nudlez from one of the hot beds of new talent Inglewood. Together they are known as Tha Boondocks.
Both possess the ability to produce thought provoking lyrics and together they have styles that compliment each other. Having been together over five years they have taken that time to perfect the craft and site influences from some of the greats. When asked about their goals they explained; "We definately with the westcoast movement to put the west back on top where we belong. A lot of these n-ggas out here are fake as f--k! All our songs are based on a true story, whether its our own or some of our peeps.
The duo also talked about their first release; "We released our first mixtape "Tha Boondoks: Resurrection, Redemption, and Reparations" back in 2004. If you aint got it, make sure you snatch it up now."
Into 2006 and Tha Boondoks have released Volume 2 of this mixtape series aptly titled; "Blood Cuzins: The Westcoast Movement" which is hosted by DJ Warrior and CatDogg (100.3 The Beat). Mixed by DJ Hideo and with material on there from Snoop Dogg, The Game, Knocturnal, J Wells, E White and more it is a mixtape not to be slept on.
All songs on the mixtape are produced by Lil Pops and Meech Wells and it also features drops from Snoop Dogg, The Game, Pharrell, Young Jeezy, T.I., Paul Wall, Mike Jones, David Banner, Twista, Mike Epps, Guy Torry, The Poetess (100.3 The Beat), DJ Modave (100.3 The Beat), DJ Dense (100.3 The Beat) and more.
