Anyone can go to a community college.
-
Community College is a school for people who are too lazy, dumb, poor to go to real college, to either:
-Prep for real college
-Take some classes to feel better about themselves
its cheaper, its in you community and anyone can go.

not always, sometimes your better off getting your 2 year and then transfering to a 4 year school b/c it will save you a boat load of money

not quite... i go to the university of arizona and i go to pima community college. I take my engineering classes at the university but take my math classes and physics classes at the CC because the teachers are better at the CC (for the calculus/physics courses). and saving a few hundred dollars in the process to learn the same thing is not a bad thing. im taking 17 credits this semester so im neither lazy, dumb, or poor and i go to a CC..

one of the dumbest things I have ever read. There is nothing wrong with getting your associates degree from a junior college, grow up.

would you mind finding the part of my post that said there was something wrong with getting an A.A. form a CC? go ahead...
i have my A.A. from a CC and now im transfering to UCSB. I did it because I knew I wouldnt be able to afford UC straight from HS I put in some time at a CC got my GPA up higher so I qualify for more scholarships to go to the UC now.

I got into an arguement with my lady about this. She goes to UCR (University of California Riverside) and I go to Community College. She swears up and down that a CC is less than a UC or CSU. But CC's are no different. The only difference is it's cheaper and has a more diverse Student population. Since it's so cheap, it gives you the oppurtunity to make mistakes and not lose TONS of money doing so. It's a great way to get all your General Education out of the way, as they follow the same guidelines. People downing CC's make no sense to me. They're great to have.

your lady is right. I hate to say it but it's true. Yes..you're right about g.e. classess, but the highest you get isassociate degree, which is considered "half" of b.a/b.s degree.
you get people transfering from cc. to csu or uc..

i happened to have went to all three types of california colleges except private. went to CSU long beach first, then to a community college, and then to a UCSB. the reason for me going back to community college is because i know that i wanted to eventually transfer to a UC, but its so much easier to transfer from a comm. college as opposed to directly transferring from CSU to UC. UC's always look to comm college as their first priority for transfer students, and then trickles down to UC, and CSU. but yeah its a good option for people that may not have necessarily enough money to spend right after high school to pay for high tuitiion. like some people have said before, its a good way to clear out all your General Education requirements, and then by the time ur ready to transfer all you have to handle is your upper division major courses. By the time i transfferred to UCSB, i was already cleaared away with my entire GE cirriculum.
A comm college is still a college but the highest degree you can attain is AA. but if you want to pursue further you will have to go to a 4 year instituition as a CSU/UC to attain ur Bachelors. From my experience of attending comm college, its more like older adults that are trying to recontinue their college education, or like people like myself that were kinda in the transition period before transferring to their final choice.
its crazy though. I went to CSU Long Beach (1year), a community college in the bay area (1year), and then to UC Santa Barbara (2 years), and then to UCLA extension (1 quarter). but 4 colleges in total. haha.

yeah but taking wheelchairs takes time, plus if youre legs are broken that recovery time is gonna set you back a few weeks, thereby delaying youre graduation.....legs broken= heart broken

why would you have to move to North Carolina to go to a university?
-
going to community college is a bigger benefit i think , because
1) they care more if you pass or fail classes
2) it's a lot more inexpensive
3) easier to test the waters, to see if you even really WANT to attend college
4) they follow the guidlines of the UC's, CSU's, and private colleges like usc
5) more hot girls ;D

I had to bump up this thread.
I'll be going to CC in the spring as a math major. any advice?
-
Erm study hard?
Btw community college...It's fine. It's not prep for real college, it's just another option to take. Some go straight to uni after high school, some to college, some to community college...Etc etc.

thanks man. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. lol

unless you're rich or get a bitch load of scholarship money i highly recommend going to a community college first. i'm actually ahead of everyone at CSUB.

that's what I'm saying. my brother was like, "just go to CC. it's easy. I know dumb kids that are passing there."
I was gonna go to CC anyway, but I hate ppl who think like that. all his friends are burnouts like him anyway. fuck them. lol

Uhhh, go to class. I actually think it's a good idea to go to a CC for your gen ed and then go to a Univ. for your courses that are related to your major. The class size is a lot smaller and more personal so you will be able to get more attention/help from your professors in a CC. Good luck.
