how is The Source magazine these days? is it better now since Benzinos gone or is it still anti-g-unit and eminem bullshit?
-
Saw Mobb Deep in the July issue, I dont really read the source, I prefer XXL.
-
the source is dope now. t its the clear-cut best rap mag now that there's no blackball behind-the-scenes bullshit. they show love to any good rap, and unlike other magazines like xxl they dont kiss up to anyone in particular (interscope records, anyone?).
-
Source is better, XXL seems to be in the pocket of whoever's hot. Murder Dog is still the best to me even though the reviews suck.
-
As much as I dislike G-Unit and Shady Records The Source was a bullshit magazine during Benzino's hating days over there, shit was getting out of hand back then and The Source lost all of its journalistic integrity because of that...
-
Basically, both The Source and XXL are trash magazines. XXL is plain shallow and ignorant while The Source is filled with simplistic propaganda (even in the after-Benzino-era). As long as you keep that in mind, you'll find The Source having the most journalistic integrity. The best hiphop magazine? Scratch, easily.

Scratch mag is where its at...

There's way too many ads in the source although that might have changed now but i doubt it. It's been a few years since I bought/read it.

I don't really see how that affects the magazine itself. It keeps the magazine from becoming expensive, and as a reader you can simply turn the page and read on. Nobody's forcing you to pay attention to the ads!

The last Source i read was in 2000 when Q-Tip was on the cover and there was too many ads back then. I'd hate to see how it is now.

Because it makes it look like you're getting more than you are and it is also capitalist advertising.

Of course it is. Why else would they advertise?
