I live in the midwest and we don't have any major hip-hop clubs or anything like that. Not to mention I haven't gone to a club in years because as a Muslim I don't like being around alcohol.
But anyway, the point is I heard from a family member about this freestyle battlin contest they are puttin on in my city. I think it's rare that they do something like this, but I wouldn't know cause I'm not on the scene. It's from 2pm to 7pm so I figure that early in the day, alcohol may not interfere. So I'm kind of excited to go. I suck at rapping, but do have skills freestylin. I love freestylin but I rarely have anyone to cipher with or battle with. This forum provides one avenue in which I can work on perfectin my craft (freestylin). But it's not in a live environment. The friends I've had that freestyled only did it for a short phase.
So maybe I'll meet up with some likeminded people and I'd like to see how ill I am compared to others in the city. So it should be interesting. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

I wish I could. I'm going to attack all my openents from the perspective of knowledge. I'm going to try to make them look ignorant, or fake. That's my best angle cause I can't talk about my reputation in the city, or money, or any gangsta shit or anything like that.

I went up there.. It was a small place, there was a bar on the right, and a stage in the center. They asked me if I was a rapper, and who was my rap group and all this stuff. I told them that I don't rap, I just freestyle and everyone looked at me crazy, lol. Then they asked me for $20.00 to get in the contest.
They said it wouldn't be starting for another hour so I told them I may leave. I didn't really feel comfortable going there by myself, there were no white dudes there, no Muslims, if I was there with someone I knew they could of talked me into it. But anyway, I don't have enough experience... so that's it. So much for that. Peace.

It was small, there were only about 15 people in there alltogether. And hip-hop isn't conscious where I come from, Young Dro, Lil Wayne and Dem Franchise Boys are the type of rappers people are into here. So I would have been up against alot coming there by myself with no experience talking against materialism and promoting knowledge of self and Islam and all that.
