Everytime I bring him up in conversations some people tell me they were feeling him in NY(music people) and wanted to sign him, but he stay down with game. Is this true?

I was thinking down the lines of how staying down could of cost him life. Would game of held him up or down because Billboard was tighter than game (opinion).
