Pagliuca sets new Serie A record

Gianluca Pagliuca broke Dino Zoff's Serie A appearance record for a goalkeeper when he started for Ascoli at Messina on Sunday.

The 39-year-old former Italy international made his 570th appearance to set the new mark.

Former Bologna, Sampdoria and Inter Milan keeper Pagliuca was Italy's first choice at the 1994 World Cup.

AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini is the overall record holder, with 583 appearances, and he is still playing.

Pagliuca always been one of my favourite keepers, was wondering what had happened to him after he left Bologna.
